No chance for Renault

Post

I think Jacques was very careful, he didn’t make huge mistakes and brought the car home. That’s satisfying, and it takes time to adapt with the new tyres and this tricky R24. Although even with Villeneuve Renault just can’t fight back cause in terms of pure speed BAR (especially Jenson) are clearly faster and they are not dumm when talking about strategy. He was better in qualifying than Alonso even with more fuel aboard! The gap in the race says everthing.
I’m quite sorry that Renault’s chances are minor to regain second.

Humm...in any case in one of the radio comunications heard Jaques was told he was a whole second off Alonsos' pace and was asked to step up the pace. I know that he hasn't driven in almost a year and he doesn't know the car.....but a whole second of your team mate is quite a lot!

BEST LAPS:

8 Fernando Alonso Renault 55 15:31:48 209.597 1:33.625
7 Jacques Villeneuve Renault 55 15:32:52 206.672 1:34.950

1,3seconds that is a whole lot of time!

As a personal opinion I am a huge JV fan and alot of the times his setup is no good.. it can't be lack of experience.. maybe the way he deals with the engineers? I don't know but every race the setup was no good, even at BAR (besides the engine when he was there). Just a thought I may be wrong and seeing things..

Well I really doupt it.....his setups at BAR were bascily done by the same track engineer as the setups at Williams (Jock Clear)....in the Williams days he didn't complain....if he complained in the BAR years it would be probably of the car ability to react to setup itself and not the setup itself...cause the setting up ability of his race/track engineer would be the same....and even with some more experience.
