McLaren MCL34

:-) ok, similar, the vertical shape with very little downwards ramp, and the transition into the hotair outlet, but yes the fer turns in more agressively
The main difference is the packaging behind the airbox. It's so mcl33!

Looks to me like the air valve is placed on the spoke, so most likely they're using hollow spokes like Mercedes.
Makes sense to move the mass of the valve closer to the center.

2 little flaps under the front wing just like the STR14 !

The inside part of the front wheel, is enterely covered just like the W10... interesting solution !

Liked his comparison with the 2018 car with the wheel - sidepod distance. I’m wondering how the 2017 car compared, did it also have the issue with the front tyre wake?

Interesting that several people spent the entire year saying "McLaren's cooling create too much drag, that's why they're so slow", then comes someone from McLaren and says that it was pretty much class leading. Goes to show how many guesses are spread around as if they were the absolute true around here.
Not really trying to get into a debate here but at the end of the day it is Mclaren speaking... when was the last time they said something accurate about the performance of the car...
i was under the impression that the problems from last year began when the front tire wake was uncontrollable under cornering. it was a draggy car, but that could have been a byproduct of adding wing to control that problem. i think that the idea of cooling being the problem was part of the endless speculation and guesswork online? reality and fiction begin to blend together these days when anyone can say something in a way to make others think they know what they are talking about..

So someone on Autosport posted that Lando on one of the podcasts said that they have not yet recovered last year's downforce levels. Kinda disappointing if true. It's gonna be a long season.

I am looking for it too. I'll post the source if I can find one (and if it exists).

I believe the source is this interview Lando gave to Sky at the car launch. He says the car doesn't have as much downforce as last year but they're making gains every week. Also says everyone will be initially slower than before but will eventually make progress.

TBH, I dont think they will ever recover in this set of regulation. You can just find so much downforce every week with limited CFD and wind tunnel time and more or less zero testing. They are not going to recover unless there is a new set of regulations that needs cars to be rebuilt from ground up and even then you gotta be lucky.
