Looks like a proper race sim, last year they started the race in 25's-24's and by the end of the race Alonso's fastest lap was a 20.7. Looks like the car is at least as fast as last year.

Best case scenario the car is 1.3 seconds faster than last year, worst case scenario the car is equally slow to last year.

For the record, Norris did a short stint after "2nd" stint.

Now seems to be staying for a while in pits.

McLaren can't win with reporters, if they're topping the time sheets they doing glory runs and when they're middle/bottom it's a testing disaster, hope they're able to shut some people up in Melbourne

Is it just me or did Norris do his stint on C1? Its hard to tell them apart from C2.

1. Miles better in terms of preparedness and meeting launch schedule.

2. Miles better in terms of reliability.

3. Miles better on the operational side.

4. The car is running smoothly, without issues and putting in lap after lap even race sims.

McLaren aren't going to bother top 3 we know that but there is nothing to suggest this early that they won't be in hunt for 4th.

1h & 40 min left :)

I think Mclaren will do more laps today than yesterday's 119

23:06 Watching at Turn 9, the fast Campsa right-hander, Lando Norris was going down a gear very late on turn in to get the car to rotate before going back up a gear just after. That's two extra gear changes nobody else was doing.

Looks like 2 sec of pace on same fuel and tyre, looking at Merc and Ferrari long runs
He was quite consistent with the times. It's not impossible that he's been given a delta time.
It looks pretty similar to 2018 TBH, midfield will be even tougher me thinks, Sauber ATM looks best of rest, whit us, Renault, Haas and TR pretty close together.
Ferrari looks fastest but Mercedes is right there and they have Hamilton.
Biggest queation mark for me is Redbull.

Edit: if Alonso was in the car i am sure people would rate the car higher.

I think I and most people have learned to ignore any Gary Anderson views on Mclaren. Utterly useless observation without knowing all details which he never seems to know.

Gone very quiet the past 90 mins or so. Quite possibly doing some setup changes before a few quick runs on the C4?

from autosport Long run snippets: We saw Leclerc's first run of the afternoon start in the 1m23s on C2s before drifting way out to the 1m27s before he made a mistake and came in. Bottas put in a very interesting run that was consistently in the 1m21s on the softer C3s - but crucially we don't know how their fuel loads compared. We've also heard from Daniel Ricciardo that he was happy in the morning with the Renault being able to lap around the low 1m23s and high 1m22s. Meanwhile, right now we have Norris circulating very consistently in the 1m26s, using C2 tyres on the McLaren. It seems unlikely all three of Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault would run lighter than McLaren, so is that bad news for the British team?

looks like everyone want mclaren to be at back. it sounds good for their business , bashing mclaren and get more views on their posts. :D :D :D. we do not even know what the mclaren planned run is.
Haven't you heard? It's fashionable to bash McLaren, guarantees clicks and triggers their fans. McLaren are the Arsenal of F1.. :D
I've learned to drown out all the noise. Haven't you noticed none of the pundits really say F1 needs McLaren to be competing at the front?
I don't know if it's due to me not being British or whatever but I would say that McLaren is the most popular team by the pundits/commentators. I mostly follow F1 through English media and all this discussion about "McLaren and Williams are not supposed to be at the bottom" is just personal opinion. For me it's great that the teams at the bottom are changing. I wouldn't want Williams to stay this low as that risks them leaving. But I really do think this McLaren must be at the top discussion is a load of... They have heritage but just like all other teams they should fluctuate.
