Let's see if it's faster with the new wing. And how that wing looks...
And right now i can't come up with a "gives you wings" joke. Damn.
You say that like it's obvious but weren't Hamilton's long run times very fast?Tzk wrote: ↑20 Feb 2019, 11:37Well, it's quite obvious that Ferrari is currently using higher powermodes than the mercs. Mercs are just crusing and collecting data while Ferrari is testing longrun pace (not completely flatout, but with higher powermodes). Currently Vettels seems to test how strong the tires are in terms of overheating and degradation.
Yep, considering that DRS gives you about half a second laptime...
I'm not sure where you're getting that, before Hulk did that vettel already did two laps that were low 1.18, and these times still aren't anything close to explosive.FrukostScones wrote: ↑20 Feb 2019, 12:24HUL 1.19.157 C3 without DRS.
Renault faster than Ferrari. : )
I though with 2019 cars, DRS is worth 7 to 8 tenth on BarcelonaTzk wrote: ↑20 Feb 2019, 12:38Well, fuel load is another explanation. However i was refering to the low 1:18 lap that vettel posted. Haven't seen the mercs do this. Regarding the longrun pace: you never know if it's the powermodes, fuel amount or a combination of both. Or even different downforce and drag levels. For example RedBull announced that they'll mount a new wing with more downforce now...

DRS is worth more than half a seconf on this track especially with the bigger 2019 rear wings now.Tzk wrote: ↑20 Feb 2019, 12:38Well, fuel load is another explanation. Last minute instruction - do not break it!!
What's the value of topping the testing times?
The perennial question at this time of year, of course, but certainly the stats show that in this hybrid turbo era, Ferrari have topped more winter timesheets than anyone.
In fact, including yesterday, nearly double that of Mercedes.
Winter timesheets topped since 2014 (top five)
Ferrari - 19
Mercedes - 10
Williams - 6
Force India - 4
Red Bull - 3
Of course, Ferrari's winter pace has yet to translate into a world championship. Will this be the year that changes?
