Does anyone know how much time difference is high fueled vs empty tank on this track??
Last year's race it was about 6 seconds between pole and first few laps of the race.

But that is misleading as the car could probably be only 4 seconds slower than Q time and the remaining 2 seconds the delta time so that he car does 25 laps in the first stint.

BoT, that is not a happy place to crash! https://streamable.com/193rq
There was a possibility for a serious injury there.... Problem is Ferrari will probably have a hard time pinpointing the exact weak link that caused the crash... since front end is completely wrecked.

Looks like the rear end sat down on the plank and it skated off. Broken rear suspension?

Nah, they've got a million sensors that'll tell them exactly where abnormal load was noticed, at which thousandth of a second etc.

That means we can't really take McLaren times today as general performance indicator... They could be 1 second of top... or they could be 3 s.... nobody can really tell right now.

You may be right, you may not.
For me personally that time was an indicator that MCL will not be 3s off this year. Yes i can take that time as an indicator for that.
It may be 1s off, for sure. Who knows, but NOT 3s .

Great pic.
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

I hope you are right... because I don't believe that Renault, Alfa and TR were doing their quick laps with high fuel load... it just doesn't make sense. I think these last few days everyone will start to push the car to the limit, we should have a much better view of pecking order on the last day of testing.

I believe a lot of teams, including Mclaren, can get into 1.16s in a all out attempt on c4 (I don't bother with C5 as is not designed for this track). The Question will be who can get into 1.15s. IMHO that's the question for this test.
i am not sure if everybody will try such runs, but i think some teams can get into 1.15s if they want.

On VET's crash from dutch gptoday.net, excellent coverage by the way: Eyewitness at ground zero reports that a left front suspension arm snapped at entrance of T3. Ferrari reports it will take them several hours before going out again.

Broken track rod? Difficult to tell from that video, but looks like tyre smoke before gravel dust which would not be indicative of a blowout, likewise I'd expect the car to bottom and spark if a wishbone failed.

Struggling to find out if it was tire smoke or engine smoke. Any chance PU issues causing it?

Definitely tyre smoke - front left is facing away from apex, but could be he's counter-steering...
