RB replaced their gearbox only, expected to return on track any moment now acc. gptoday.net
Last year gearbox causes many DNF for them.
Will it be the same this year?
It could be due to the spin he did on the gravel??

Could be but we don't have a video to check if this happened. Gearbox malfunctioning could also be the cause of why he spun.

The sim came to an end just after a short last stint because there probably were some issues. Liveticker reports strange noises were audible and when Verstappen was back in pits the mechanics checked the back of the car.
Thanks for the stint-times LM10, any word from RB about this? EDIT: VES indeed was in the gravel at some point. :wtf:
You're welcome.

Apparently it was making noises during the lap leading up to it, so likely the gearbox was the cause of the spin.

Is it me or anyone else also thinks that there is quite a pattern of degrading. Every single team starts with a good time and by the end of the stint, would have lost over 2 seconds. I know the temperatures are not ideal and as Mercedes had reported, they had a lot of cold graining.

Is it possible for teams to calculate the fuel load by taking high resolution pictures of rear tyres as cars leave the pits, and measuring the deflection in the Pirelli logos?

Thin tread tyres (less heat buildup) + cold weather, probably can't keep them in the window as they wear?
