Well, Toto said that the current car is (more or less) the Melbourne Spec. But seriously, i expect them to bring another batch of upgrades... :D
However remember that it’s the same Toto Wolff who hinted at problems and who had to rush back to base to solve them last week.

It’s obvious he never gives an unguarded statement.

"Hamilton has now followed Albon into the 1:18s, going rather quickly on a tyre which is actually the second slowest available, the C2.
That time from Hamilton is only six tenths of a second down on his best time of the winter"
Of course I struggle. I just don’t quit.

Apart from Mercedes teams haven't really bolted on lots of upgrades in week 2... That's very surprising to me.

Will we see stuff in Melbourne?
Mercedes did a good upgrade during test but so far Williams had the most improvement from day 1 till now :wtf:

After my misfire yesterday, that does seem to be the fastest c2 time so far.

Yes 2 seconds difference between C2 and C5.
Given that this wasn't even a real quali sim we could see low 1.15s.

Positives and negatives for both teams in this comparison, Mercedes got to lap .4 faster.
Ferrari ran longer and without any fast>slow>fast pattern.

Both can remain optimistic lol.

The teams finding out how the tyre react to different approaches to tyre conditioning. The sort of thing that will be useful in qualifying. Last year we saw Hamilton doing different things to Vettel in qualifying in order for each to the get tyres where they wanted them for their next quick lap. The cars are different and work the tyres differently - this is not surprising.

Mercedes stated that one of the aims of the new car was to tame the rear tyre issues they had previously. Maybe they have done so and the car now needs time to get the tyres in to the window. If so, this might be a weakness on some qualifying days where things are unruly and having time to condition the tyres is not possible. Conversely, it might allow them to be more like RedBull were last year and run long and fast on their tyres.

It's all grist to the mill and what testing is all about.

McLaren looking fast now, no idea of fuel level but the car looks nice.
