So Bottas today beat the Ferrari through S3, but is losing 3 tenths in S1 alone!

surely has to be engine modes ?

AMuS's ticker seems to think Vettels time is on the C5 tire.

Vettel schnappt sich auf der weichsten Sorte die Spitzenposition. In 1:16.352 Minuten büßt er 0,121 Sekunden auf Leclerc vom Vortag ein. Ferrari deckt die Karten trotzdem nicht auf. Man muss sich nur den Topspeed anschauen. Da taucht Vettel nicht unter den besten sechs auf. Und im ersten Sektor war Vettel beim Run zuvor 0,162 Sekunden schneller. Das deutet daraufhin, dass Ferrari die Power runtergeregelt hat. Dafür zaubert der Heppenheimer im letzten Sektor. Weniger Leistung, dafür etwas weniger Sprit? So machte es Ferrari laut Beobachtungen von Mercedes schon gestern.

They go on to say that Ferrari had a relatively low top speed on that run (not under the top 6). And in the first sector, Vettel was slower than on his previous run by 0.162s. Assumption being that they are not running full power modes, but likely less fuel.

According to the youtube live timing he was the fastest on the speed traps and he had the best sectors as well.

Top-speed trap is not the same as the intermediate trap speeds.

06:15 We took a closer look at Vettel's tyres on that run and stand corrected. Looks like the C5 was fitted to the Ferrari after all.
