BEARD BOTTAS! Guess facial hair is the equivalent of racing stripes for humans ;)

Still though, bizarre how Lewis' tyres just ded. Even more bizarre with Vettel.

It's weird, as a Hamilton fan, I can't say I'm disappointed but I can't say I'm not.

As a Hamilton fan myself, as long as Vettel doesn't win I'm happy with any result.

Oh God, the commentators this year, are apparently going to be way worse than before.

Again they seem to have completely forgotten that the gaps were caused by some drivers pitting way too early.
I know tell me about it I feel like shouting at the TV as they seem clueless that ham and vet were heavily compromised by stopping so early and had to nurse tyres the whole race. If Lewis would have mirrored Bottas strategy gap would have been normal and would have been an interesting shootout for fastest lap at end. Hamilton still did 2nd fastest lap on significantly older tyres.

I think it's clear that the new front wing rules were a dismal failure. At least the extra point for fastest lap was interesting
The 1 point thing seems an imitate success.
When you hear Hamilton state things like ‘I NEED that point’ and even the driver miles ahead try and talk the team into an extra pit stop then you know where there drivers are mentally over it.

Vettel said on the radio that he had no tyres left with 20 laps to go.

I’m just happy for Bottas. After his sh—ty luck early last year, his season just collapsed. Glad to see him bounce back, I hope he’ll make Hamilton work for it!

It's to be expected, when Mercedes pitted him as early as they did. Then that was probably compounded by the fact that Mercedes quickly realized Max was going to go long.

Midfield racing is going to be amazing this year.

Well done Bottas, what a boss!

That was an imperious win by Bottas.
Lewis keeps taking little peeps at Bottas as the national anthems are being played. I guess he's thinking "there's my real challenge this year".

He had enough gap to gasly for ferrari to pit him 20 laps to go to a set of softs.

They missed a trick here, 2 stop would be faster than a 1 stop he did.

IMO the race for Hamilton was lost at the start. After that, his strategy was dictated by who his probably strongest competitor will be (Vettel/Ferrari) so naturally was compromised.

Bottas/Mercedes then had the power of insight and data to monitor what was happening and wait, thus stopping later, so he was always set up for much faster pace throughout the race. Meanwhile, Max got himself into contention by overtaking Vettel, also through a late stop.

All in all, great team result and i think deep inside, Hamilton knows this was the best “worst-case” scenario as a result. Over a season, he should have the measure of his team mate, he probably has the teams backing more and right now he is ‘leading’ Verstappen by 3 points and Vettel by 6. That is almost like taking the win to Vettel coming second.

Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I can't help but feel like this is Mercedes way of appeasing Bottas last year. 20s over Lewis? Come on.
