According to tha latest AMuS article Ferrari had a cooling issue in Australia. But not running to hot, but running too cold. That way the engine would develop misfire and had to be detuned by 30-40 HP. This lead to more fuel usage as well because they spent more time fully on throttle.

Let's hope that was the actual issue.

Good to see kubica very close to Russell much improved from AUS
In Australia was in fact faster than him on FP1

19 Robert Kubica Williams/Mercedes 1m27.914s 4.315s 25
20 George Russell Williams/Mercedes 1m28.740s 5.141s 25

But Qualy and race didn´t show Kubica´s true performance. They should be much closer to each other.

Ferrari seem to be firing on all cylinders. Oh yes. Finally hotting up. Bottas looks to be on top of his game!

Were Ferrari testing a new strat 11 engine mode on their second runs?Massive improvement compared to their initial times. FP2 will be interesting as they were 6 tenths ahead last year.

Leclerc lost a good bit of time on that last turn too, traffic definitely distracting him. Charles looking strong.

For reference, Kimi Raikonnen was over half a second faster than the nearest Mercedes in FP2 at Bahrain in 2018. By Q3 that had reduced to less than two tenths so I believe Mercedes always run more conservatively in practice here.

Still though, it does look to be advantage Ferrari this weekend. Great start to the season so far.

also mercedes only 1 tenths ahead of renault (or it was a fantastic lap of hülkenberg) looks not really realistic.
