Verstappen via radio on his fast lap: Why are we so slow on straights?
Was he running the higher DF version setup?
I think they had engine problems, because he did a second lap to check if they could fix it from the box and at the start of his longrun he specifically asked if the battery is OK now. During race sim they also had alot of fail X, fail Y. I think 3 times. Looking at the top speed tables there is plenty to come from him tomorrow if they can sort this out.
Earlier Horner said Max had a "clipping" issue and the energy settings needed re adjusting.

Ferrari seems to be in prime position for pole position.
it looked more like they were pushing it as hard as they possibly could because they don't fully understand what's going on with it yet

He could be in a different program, but Kubica is one second a drift from… Russell. That seems a lot.

Last year in FP2 Hulk was best of the rest too, but he had a 1.4 sec gap to the top. Today he was just 0.8 sec off the pace. In my opinion, this is a sign of a massive performance jump from Renault.

Yes. Ferrari was the only team that did two runs for quali simulations.

I still don't understand why F1 can just show us which tyres where used in each stint? (I mean, new set or used set ffs )
it is there in the f1 live timings app
shows everything used sets or new or how many laps they have run etc

I think this year from race to race ranking will change a lot with those tires.

GAS is slow for now, but look at RIC
We need to give them time to adapt.

LEC already seem very fast, this is great, he is supposed to be future of Ferrari

Anyone got lap times? FIA site only has classification.

Not only program - Kubica's car is different (where different means worse) cause has damage that was not repaired, like floor, cause this "clown fiesta" team called Williams is such pathetic...

Kubica has a floor that was damaged in Australia and repaired not replaced because Williams doesn’t have a spare floor. Plus he is in the older car that has parts fatigue from testing, again Williams don’t have parts.

Desperate situation, if Kubica or Russell have anything resembling a big crash in FP or Qualifying they are going to be out of the weekend.

Merc just 2 tenths quicker than Hulkenberg ? Hmm..
Shows what level Mercedes are running
The only outlier is Hulkenberg. Could just be a very good lap (also compared to RIC). When both Mercs were ahead in AUS they weren't holding back. It's not that if they are not 1-2 that they are sandbagging.

If you think of it, it's just clever to do a second qualifying simulation. Conditions in FP2 were as they're gonna be in qualifying and race. Track temperatures in FP3 are probably gonna be 50° C again, 20° more than in FP2. That's a huge difference and not really representative which makes set-up work more difficult as well.

But seriously Lando Norris is the real deal. He's keeping his head down and pulling an Alonso it seems - dragging the car along and getting the max out of it.
