I think thus far Pat's role has been more consultant than design engineer. He has added and vetoed ideas. I do think he has been an important addition, more because it an acknowledgement from top brass that the technical dept was lacking ... something they had been in complete denial of until fairly recently.
Every yr they cut manufacture time fine to allow longer design - thats just normal ... and I think they had a slightly different schedule requirement this year to allow for systems validation that they havnt done before.

Fry is McLaren's engineering director. He and Key are there for their ideas and management qualities. Zak Brown did all the right things last year, it's just sad that Ron Dennis couldn't see the flat structure wasn't working.

Norris: Fastest at the finish line clocking in at 300.5 kph

That's because he got towed by grosjean in Q1, just after the block.

Very much doubt it, partly because the timing screens take the data from the drivers fastest lap (which was obviously his 2nd run) but mostly because a 200-300m slipstream isn’t going to alleviate probably 20kph of lost apex speed and the massive snap of wheel spin he got on the exit.

I’m not going to get too unrealistic for the race today; any sort of points would be good but a double points finish would be a great result. Given that the front four are way up the road and the Red Bulls are much better in race trim (to such an extent I expect Gasly to reach the points along with Verstappen) that only leaves four points scoring places with the Haas cars probably most likely for them unless they manage to bin it again.

First of all though we need to get out unscathed from the start and then push on for as many points as possible. I am confident we can also outdevelop both the Renault and the Haas in the course of the championship.

F...ing ...hole. We were clearly faster fighting the Red Bull. Is he gonna recieve any penalty for it? It's really unfair when we are trying to capture that 4th Championship place.

Of course these stewards would let their favorite boy without a penalty. At least Norris is doing a good race so far. Lets hope Sainz can go with one less pit stop to the first 10.
