Perfectly synchronised stops for the Renaults.
Its fortunate for Leclerc though, the race'll finish under safety car condition.

Charles Leclerc looked set for his first ever victory in Formula One until an technical issue brought an end to that hope 10 laps from the end. He still limped to 3rd, completing the podium along the Mercedes drivers.

When Ferrari had the faster car last year they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory handing Merc points they didn't really deserve.

How costly will this race be at the end of the season?
It's not just this race. It is safe to say the PU has reliability issues. Fixing those has ramifications. New mgu-k means at the end of the season taking a penalty.

Man... Leclerc didn't put a foot, toe or nail wrong. This is just sad.
Maybe that's the difference in pace between Merc and Ferrari, Merc are not nearly pushing the PU as hard. I did say earlier in the weekend that Merc were holding their PU back during the earlier FP sessions, a PU failure and penalty is so harsh this year.

Lewis made his luck this race. It was a well deserved win.
