According to Amus, Mercedes ran FP2 with the new front wing, which was deemed illegal.
That could be the turning point in this GP?

Disregarding everything else (engine modes, aero...), verstappen lost ~0.8s to vettel on the straights up to the last hairpin where the camera on verstappen's car blacks out. Eyeballing it i'd say RB lost around 1s over the course of entire lap compared to ferrari on the straights.
Verstappen is actually ahead up until the back straight, then loses massive amounts of time on the long full throttle section.

In FP2 sim race, there were some very interesting times set by Bottas, Vettel, Hulk, Kyviat, Albon and almost everybody was using that hard tyre ...
Those times were quicker than those set on medium and even soft tyres, although with a lighter car indeed ...
So definitely hard tyre is here the best tyre race but I don`t think we should see a one-stop strategy like last year ...

When Merc get pole and are just as fast on the straights, can we please stop all this rubbish talk that Ferrari have a better engine?

It seems 1/20 posts these days are just a reference to the Ferrari 'ultra mega uber' engine.

Which in my opinion does not exist. At best it's on par with the Mercedes PU.

It was on hards. Soft run now not fast enough, third sector slow. Max back in the pits.

When he stopped that stint, tv showed he was on yellow ..

They do a practice pitstop after every run, those are very old yellows that they use to replace the stint tires with. It was on hards.

Amus says "difference with Mercedes very little" but that's odd, it basically implies that Mercedes loses like what? 6 tenths on straights? I don't think so
