Fernando Alonso has claimed the first ever night Grand Prix. Thanks to a lucky safety car procedure, the Renault driver was able to move up from 15th on the grid and continued calmly to win the race. Nico Rosberg ended second, Lewis Hamilton is 3rd. Neither of the Ferraris managed to get into the points.

Well done Alonso, Rosberg. Hamilton very tactical. Glock Vettel and Heidfeld bring in a four Germasn in the points. wow

Impressions: Great race and good track layout. I think it'd be good day or night!
It's good to see 'Nando back on the top-step. Drove very well and his strategy worked extremely well.
Nico on P2! Excellent race, especially since he had a drive-through.
WTF happened with Kimi? Binned it into the wall. Massa ran-off with the fuel-hose...what? they need to rid themselves of that semi-auto system. Not good at all. It looked like Massa lost confidence toward the end.
Trouble at Ferrari.
So much for no passing

Actually Sutil almost hit him. Get your facts straight.
Here we go again - the way I saw it Massa pulled out where Sutil would have been on track, causing Sutil to turn off the track. However if replays show Sutil was already having an accident and Massa pulled out of his way then I shall apologise.
Ferrari have egg on their face. McLaren is on the way to collect a constructors championship.

What happened with Alonso's fuel stop ?
Did he enter the pitlane before it was closed or what ?
Two drivers got 10 second stop-go penalty's and he got off with none ?
And who decided it should be 10 seconds ? usually its a drive though!
The only way to close a stupid question is to give a smart answer

He stopped a few laps earlier due to graining on his soft tyres.

Alonso refueled a few laps before the entrance of the safety car . Pitlane closed after safety car's entrance

Just watched it again, and although the camera angle doesn't let you see what was happening with Sutil into the corner it shows clearly that if Sutil hadn't have crashed into the wall he would have hit Massa. So I think that he must have taken avoiding action. But a better camera angle would be needed to clarify.
Congratulations to Fernando and Renault! The team and the driver absolutely deserve that win, and will certainly prove a boost for the team towards next year.
Great drive from FA, he sure benefited from the SC but did prove his worth on the track doing solid lap times up until the end and pushing hard. Well deserved.
Excellent performance from Rosberg as well, and really pleasant to see more drivers in the podium than the usual suspects.
LH once again cruised to the finish line and got the points by doing nothing special other than being lucky.
Shockingly ridiculous performance by Ferrari, both drivers and team. A bit like watching pinball, two red balls bouncing off the walls! More proof that LH is not actually winning the WDC as much as Ferrari are losing it themselves. Well, they sure deserve to lose it if they can't even carry out a pit stop properly.
Quite a few overtakings for position, were you counting gcdugas???
And the pit entry/exit I think seemed just fine after all...

Although we passed a finger away of a Rosberg's win because of the (incredibly unfair) SC rule, I'm still very happy of this outcome, as I think Alonso deserved this win, from his pace and from his determination to beat the poor luck by skills only. =D> Big bravo to the Renault F1 team and Williams! I'll avoid as much as possible to play the "if" game, but I can't help thinking of the race positions without the 10 sec stop&go penalty... I'm a fan after all...
It's incredible how the FW30 can come surprisingly good in every urban track, to later fall as a dog in conventional circuits. This is haunting the car since the begining of the season, it has been very competitive in Melbourne (podium), Monaco (accident but great pace), Montreal (though it failed to score points), Valancia and Singapore(another podium).
I guess it's down to suspention specifity, actually I'd like very much to learn more about the possible explainations of such a track nature bias... Anyone has an idea?
The Ferrari pit lights system has proven being a failure, and quite a dangerous one. They should reverse to the old school lolipop trick ASAP! Note that there is still a "lolipop man with the lights system, but the difference is the a loolipop raised too early can (and has been in several occasions) be put down again quickly to stop the driver, but as we seen with Massa, his concentration got away of the lights as soon as he spotted the green. And even if he had seen the light quickly got back to red, he logically would have thought it was for Raikonen.
This system came from a good theorical idea, but did not succeed in practical conditions.
