It was looking pretty dire for him going into qualifying with all the time he lost on track this week. I hope he makes one of those 3 slots!
It is important to note that this may be the tightest field in the Races's history.subcritical71 wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 00:18It was looking pretty dire for him going into qualifying with all the time he lost on track this week. I hope he makes one of those 3 slots!
Cannot agree more. It is basically embarrassing that McLaren IndyCar team. They rushed it IMHO, and they really can't compete with teams running in the series for years now. The ironic thing is I think it's gonna take them just as long as it takes McLaren F1 team to reach the top of the grid to come to the grips with IndyCar!Sevach wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 00:44Alonso screwed himself by sticking by Mclaren.
Oval setups are extremely complex, you aren't setting up front and rear, you are setting up the 4 corners of the car.
Same thing about aero, every ,0001 of drag brought by an incorrect setting costs a huge deal.
Last time he tried he was part of a 5 car team and a very experienced team at that, with years of data and knowledge.
Hopefully he understands that and gives Roger Penske a call for next year.
...maybe, even Roger has been caught "out/looking in", but pairing oneself with a group of 500 specialists would have been the right call. I cannot understand why he did not do Andretti again...the Honda thing i guess???Sevach wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 00:44Alonso screwed himself sticking by Mclaren.
