So the Yellow Medium tyre will be the main race tyre, Vettel , Leclerc, Gasly, Verstappen will have zero experience on that tyre until the moment they put it on the car mid race! Surely thats not ideal ?!

You can put on brick tires for the second and last stint, it really doesn’t matter in Monaco. A place gained in qualifying for having an extra set of softs or some more experience on them is much more important.

Mercedes, Renault, Mclaren, Haas, Toro Rosso, Racing Point, Alfa Romeo & Williams disagree.

And RedBull won the race last year while being seconds a lap slower during the second stint.

Yes, obviously there is no other race track where track position is more important than in Monaco. Other than collecting data on the Mediums for future reference, I don't see a single reason for more than one set.

Strangely I'm looking forward to Monaco. It's clear as day that Mercedes will win once more and that the race will again be a procession. So expectations are low. However, I'm looking forward to the vibe in general and see how the story evolves, how the individual teams and drivers perform etc. Particulary Verstappen and Leclerc have something to prove.

Were Red Bull due to being upgrades this weekend for Monaco? I’m sure I read an article that downplayed their Barca updates and talked about Monaco and Canada?

Unless we see them return to their chassis level of last year, it’s hard to see anyone lighting a candle to Merc?

Rain could save what will otherwise be a very boring race this year.

Based on what we know, the Ferraris should be quite poorly and the Mercedes should qualify 1-2.

Maybe there is a chance for Max to sneak up to the front as his power deficiency won't be felt as strongly at Monaco and he has the raw talent to shove his car into P1.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes works out an agreement prior to qualifying. Whoever gets pole gets to win the race. Or maybe it will be whoever first turns into Sainte Devote gets to win the race. I would imagine team orders will be in place.

Current forecast is:

Thursday (Dry - Practice)
Saturday (20% Chance of Precipitation - Practice/Quali)
Sunday (Dry)

Friday looks like it has the greatest chance for precipitation, but that's an off day in Monaco. Plus, I still think it's a bit too far out for reliable forecasting (especially with a location situated on the water like Monaco).

The Red bull isn't just down on power, the whole car is behind the Mercs.

Its going to be a tight qualifying. I expect some surprises, like both McLarens in the top ten, and possibly the STR.

All the drama will be in qualifying however, as without a safety car, they will end as they start.

Mercedes will outqualify the rest by at least 3 tenths.

I'm starting to suspect that the true MVP of the Mercedes team is their resident AI.

And I'm sure you are correct with your margin.

I was more referring to Q2.
