Red Bull RB15

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I don't think there is no such thing a "sealing" the floor. It's not possible, they can create vortices to capture a cleanup the turbulent air from the front tires to prevent it from disturbing the ground effects of the floor similar to how the Tyre squirt slots work on from of the rear wheels.

Not that wrong tho, as as the flap also help prevent air move inward to floor, so different in terminology, in expense of big additional drag. But yeah, sealing the floor is incorrect term.

The floor was off, doesn't look like they replaced it. I think they were just working on the car and needed to take off the floor to access it

Apparently that also happened before Q1 already. Hope nothing’s wrong.

I would say permanent, they used it in the race so the update works. And better floor sealing is usefull everywhere so I guess they will keep it.

Baku and China weren't? To be honest most of the chicanes are mid speed corners and Red Bull is not far away in that speed range. The small improvements to the car seem to be working and this car has very good tire management so with triple DRS who knows.

explain why... because of the straights? they already drove on different kind of tracks, and driven on a track with a long straight (Baku) and they didn't look bad

Didn't Mario Ilien say in Barcelona that next hardware engine update would certainly not be ready before Silverstone? Maybe current spec 2 allows more agressive timings with future fuel updates resulting in more power (hopefully already in Canada)

Biggest concern of RB15 is lack of rear grip/traction I think. Very strange Gasly is so much slower than Max and struggles so much with the rear. Don't think he had any problems like that in the RB14.

Probably because they don't use the same set ups. Looking at the highest speeds in three zones it would appear Max runs less downforce than Pierre. Pierre had slowest speed trap but fastest lap.
