Yes it is long, but even if Hamilton outqualifies Bottas over the season, Bottas is still taking poles away from one of the best qualifiers there has been. As with Rosberg, Bottas is showing how really good Hamilton is because he's making him earn everything.
I've never subscribed to that, I know some people do. If there is no competition from other teams, then the only competition is your team mate. If your team mate makes a mistake, then you inherit a pole. I love the Bottas 2.0, I've been a fan of Bottas since he got 3rd in Canada quali under damp conditions in 2013, so it's not a question of his ability to drive.
What's interesting though is seeing the post Q interviews, I've never seen Hamilton that excited about any pole. So Botta's pole performance so far this season has gotten under his skin. Likewises Bottas was bummed today to say the least.
