Yes it is long, but even if Hamilton outqualifies Bottas over the season, Bottas is still taking poles away from one of the best qualifiers there has been. As with Rosberg, Bottas is showing how really good Hamilton is because he's making him earn everything.

Exactly my thoughts. Had a jump that was too high bouncing off of the curb coming out of the swimming pool, and then had an oversteer slide + correction in the middle of rascasse. I thought for sure he bottled it there, but no. He wrang its neck for every last bit, turns out. So much so he actually lost a bit in the end

I've never subscribed to that, I know some people do. If there is no competition from other teams, then the only competition is your team mate. If your team mate makes a mistake, then you inherit a pole. I love the Bottas 2.0, I've been a fan of Bottas since he got 3rd in Canada quali under damp conditions in 2013, so it's not a question of his ability to drive.

What's interesting though is seeing the post Q interviews, I've never seen Hamilton that excited about any pole. So Botta's pole performance so far this season has gotten under his skin. Likewises Bottas was bummed today to say the least.

Ferrari keep shooting down their #2 drivers. Things don't look so bad when kimi and massa were playing second fiddle now.. Ferarri just doesn't know how to run two cars at the same time.

I know it wasn't direcly Mattia's fault, but I believe any manager is responsible for everything that happens under his command, and the things happening with Ferrari this year are unacceptable for any Formula One team, let alone Ferrari.
And no, I'm not a Ferrari fan, this is as unbiased as an opinion can be.

Agreed. He has to react to the poor performance. I think Binotto needs to do some shaking up. The team maybe doesn't respect him as the boss and maybe he also doesn't want to behave as if he is now better than them; but he needs to make that distinction now between worker and boss and be the boss and tighten the belt. Ferrari needs to know how to run two cars at the same time. It is frustrating to see this three way cannibalization between the drivers and the pit wall.
I wasn't a big Ferrari fan, but their heart rending struggles in the turbo era have strangely made me begin to like them.
Maybe they're more human than the robotic Mercedes.. though i must say the level of ballsing up strategy is unacceptable.

I think we need to wait until the end of the season before we can judge. Its well known Hamilton is much better after the summer break so lets wait and see. That being said, i think Bottas is making Lewis up his game though. We will have to wait and see if Lewis takes that extra gear, like Bottas obviously has this season, or if this is going to be a season long thing.

In 13 outings in Monaco, Lewis has 2 poles! That talks a lot about his liking for this circuit. Unlike 8 in Melbourne, 6 in Shanghai, Montreal, Monza, Silverstone and Hungararoring and 5 each in Kuala Lumpur and Spa. Whatever the gap is, it has come at one of his least favorite circuits, which in itself is a significant stat.
