Parallels to other incidents or not, intentional or not, Hamilton hindered Kimi's lap.
And what harm did that do to Raikkonen ? Did Hamilton cause a dangerous situation ? No. Did he prevent Raikkonen from advancing ?...

<personal stuff removed>

...This penalty was given to just shut ppl up who think Mercedes/Hamilton are being somehow favoured, and sets a really really bad precedent.
Why was penalty given to Vettel last year? to kick him out of championship race?

That grid promises an exciting race... Is HAM in front of NOR or behind him?
Completely agree.. We haven't seen a VES v. LEC battle into T1 yet, it could be very interesting.

This gets me to thinking that if you really want to see racing that isn't processional you could change the Q3 format to be a lottery draw. Those that make it in to Q3 get their car numbers put into a hat (or some other high tech device) and the numbers are drawn 1 by 1. The grid is set with the first number called being 10th and the last number drawn starting first. Never mind scrap all that, racing is about rewarding the fastest not putting them in compromising situations just so the viewers have something interesting to watch :-#

Compare with a certain other driver's response to being penalised following his own mistake / actions.

You want me to go looking for Vettel's reaction to Sainz incedent?

Better yet, play musical chairs. Put all the cars in circle, play music and ask the drivers to run around and when music stops, a driver jump into whichever car he can and drive it!

F1 is probably the only sport where a team that has done the best job, need to be penalized to create a show.

"I passed him on my fast lap in Turns 7 and 8 and I was looking down the main straight and I didn't see him.

"I was turning into Turn 1, trying again [to look] because I was thinking he must be there somewhere, I don't know if he was pitting or starting his lap.

"But as it turned out obviously he was trying to go for a fast lap. I couldn't see him, I wasn't told on the radio, so I can only apologise to him."

Vettel did something really really dangerous, it has nothing to do with what happened today. Go back and watch it.

There is usually a safety car or virtual safety car at this race, especially on the first few laps. Unfortunately there are no changing conditions which makes the probability of a safety car lower than usual. If only a freak cloud or two.

What does other driver's (in this case Vettel) behaviour have anything to do with the current problem? Such posts are only aimed to provoke.
Strange, after Canada there was lots of using other drivers' (or rather one driver, mostly) actions in previous situations to argue about the then current problem.

You would advocate to not do what you're doing now? Contradictions, indeed. Duck, dressing, drake. 🐧

It would be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. Hamilton would likely have a better race pace than Bottas. If Hamilton is stuck behind Bottas, it'd be interesting to see whether Mercedes swap them around considering the championship versus a potential race win.

Future as a copyeditor in question, though. Rise isn't a proper noun.
He refers to the poem title where, I believe, the word rise is capitalised. Otherwise, I agree it wouldn't be capitalised, unless, of course, it was being used as a proper noun such as a road name.
Which poem?
Maya Angelou - Still I Rise!
Integrity, Trust, Respect.

Much better but some part of me feels starting from P5 on the clean side of the grid would have been better for him. Fingers crossed he gets a good start. If he could clear Bottas off the start, he and Verstappen could be on the back of Leclerc at some point if the soft tyres struggle in tomorrow's predicted heat.

Better still, an unexpected rain like on Thursday would spice it up even more!

Yeah, I think being able to draft the front row and have a chance to mix it up a bit in the first few corners helps cancel out the dirty side disadvantage. Plus the added benefit of being next to your teammate at the start.

Also of interesting note . . .

Cooling problems caused Mercedes to turn down their PUs, which cost them 6 tenths of a second in qualifying today.
