well it depends if Valtteri's side of the garage get to pit him while his Mediums are still reasonable doesn't it? If they do it'll be hard to overcut him. i mean yes everything's possible especially now, but Lewis and Charles on the front row was such a great prospect, and what i'd been waiting for personally. I'd deal with it on a first come, first serve basis. So not the time the penalty is decided on or announced matters, but the moment when the offense happened. So the first offence gets the penalty applied first.

Yeh, positions at the time stamp of the incident you mean? so what if it was a drivers first run and they did 3 better?
What I mean is you hear the announcement stewards will consider it after the race/session, but if the other competitors do not know what it is, they may miss out on gaining an advantage. For instance, had there been a driver behind Hamilton who was close to him (in time) and gave the extra % to try to catch him and put themselves off, would they not feel peeved to then be told there was no need as he is behind you anyway, oh and by the way your off smashed the box, so its a penalty for you.

Why did Sainz and Albon try to get into Q2? Albon had to work hard to get into Q2. They start on the last row regardless.

I think by the first lap, Lewis will be ahead of Valteri.
Max will try to push Charles off the road.
Should be a fun race seeing Max get hounded by the Mercedes, and also seeing if Charles can take the pressure for the whole race.
I still believe starting on the soft is the best strategy despite what pirelli are predicting. Charles will disappear and he will make those softs last as long as the yellow compounds and then the final stint will be similar lenght for all runners at the front. I could be wrong by the way.

The same situation happened at the same race in 2016 with Rosberg having qualified 2nd and having a 5 place grid penalty, Vettel also had a penalty, but back than Rosberg started 6th. I am not sure but there seems to have been some changes for 2019 as to how penalties are applied.

Apparently penalties are now applied from pole position down the Q order.

I think you are underestimating Verstappen and Hamilton's relentlessness. This isn't Bahrain, the Mercedes and Redbull have competitive race pace. Charles might win but I'd be shocked if they let him disappear into the sunset.

Nah, the cars up to 5th are easy picking for the speed of the Ferrari.

You are in all honesty probably quite right, I just get nervous when Seb is in traffic.

Yea and also, you know, last week?
He's further back this week though so gap to the front will open up much quicker. Despite that I can't see how he finishes anywhere but 5th or 6th.
A lot will depend on track temp and how the Ferrari's manage the sorts.
