Vettel had plenty of races where he came from the back and showed good race craft. One of them made him champion.
The one where he spun on his own, causing him to have to come back through the field ?

I'm no Seb hater, it's just that going on recent form he seems to have lost that edge.

He's made some shocking mistakes under pressure when going wheel to wheel in the last couple of years.

No doubt he's one of the fastest when leading from the front, I just get nervous these days watching him in traffic, or under pressure.

Maybe, but that's mostly in close racing at the front (cars with similar pace). I don't recall him ever struggling much coming through the field when out of position, he actually seems to do quite well at that.

With the power on the straight and the DRS on this track, Seb should have little trouble getting to 4th, from there on I see it as being a tyre or safety car roll of the dice.

Apparently penalties are now applied from pole position down the Q order.
Not really.. it's the same system. apply penalties first then close up the grid.

KMAG drops 5 places, his space is left vacant..
HAM drops 3 places into Magnussen's old slot.. HAM's 2nd place grid slot is left vacant...
Then the grid is closed up, shifting HAM up into 4th and NOR up into 5th.

Or in the scenery :D . I think it will take him longer than that.

Can anyone send the final starting grid, and a list of the penalties applied? I've completey lost track. Maybe they should just re-run qualifying in the morning?
This video is explains it pretty nicely :)

They would then have complaints about 'being looked at after the session v 'instant Kama' '
I'd deal with it on a first come, first serve basis. So not the time the penalty is decided on or announced matters, but the moment when the offense happened. So the first offence gets the penalty applied first.

Or have i misunderstood you?
That would be consistent with the way lap times are allocated. If two or more drivers get identical lap times in qualifying, they get given places in the order they did the time so the first driver to do the time goes higher up the grid than the next driver to do the time etc.

What a state F1 is in at the moment. Why did I even bother to watch qualifying.

Vettel has never won a race starting further down than 3rd. Gonna be great seeing move up the order tomorrow with that rocket ship.

Ferrari is strong here. Like they were last year (were they lost it on the opening lap).

This year Lec has all the cards. But why did they choose red to start on?

How will he get from 5th to 4th with little trouble? Which of Lec, Ves, Ham, Bot will he overtake? I can't see that being so trivial in a one stop race starting 9th.

Interesting. What's the lowest grid position LH has won from?
LH has more poles but fewer Ws compared to MSc.

That's because they raced in different eras, refueling versus nonrefueling (predominantly).
