So Merc ending some 20 sec. behind Max means they lost some 3 tenths per lap (nonetheless, just crippled today they managed to get a podium!) ...

Now taking into account they lose some 5 tenths with the compromised cooling, some 1-2 tenths for lift and coasting and maybe another 2 tenths for running a weaker PU race mode, my question is what would have been their race pace without those handicaps today?
I honestly believe if Hamilton hadn't messed up during his first stint, he would be up there for the victory.
Bottas didn't have the great race pace of Hamilton’s.

But that's just my opinion fron what I saw.

Just my 2 cents.

Verstappen should be penalised, end of story. It was not a clear move by any means.

What an ending though :)
That’s the most important thing. We had a wonderful race. And yes, maybe some driver made a mistake, I still watched a wonderful race. What the outcome wil be. And that’s why I watch racing.

I do not know if Charles would like to win his first race of this style. His tires were so worn out that he had no chance of keeping Max behind him. Ferrari made a devastating mistake with these soft tires. Instead of intermediate ones, extend the first stint like Max. Nobody would take away their victory.

I honestly, with respect to everybody, think they are waiting for the tribunes and track to be clear. Verstappen had hundreds of fans attending the race (again, with all respect also to those fans. I don't want stigmatize them in any particular way). Any penalty against Verstappen might cause unrest or perhaps even riots.

- Verstappen did his slide across the corner (tm) collide or yield overtake albeit a rather light version. It won't be a penalty.
- Such a genius driver hasn't learned anything better in all those seasons in F1, still stuck on one trick. On the other hand why bother trying if you can get away with it. On the other hand don't whinge about much cleaner moves like Ocon's =P~ .

This is exactly what we thought. Those drunken.. umm.. eee.. fans. Yes, fans. Could've ended up trashing the place. They could've even ripped the goddamn barriers lol

The outside of turn 3 is a dumb place to be. It doesn't matter whether you're overtaking, being overtaken, in a tin-top, F3 car, F1 car or whatever! Being on the outside of another car in there is going to end in misery. It always has been, as long as that corner has existed! LEC should know that and stop moping.

I'm saying that as someone who has a bit of a soft spot for LEC and wanted to see that first victory, but also enjoyed watching the VER charge.

Ok, I really tried to avoid putting them down as drunken. Guess I should have done more my best

Except on the previous lap, Leclerc made a comeback pass on Verstappen from the outside of the corner.

I don't think it was that much of an incident BUT it was so incredible unnecessary of Max, he clearly had a much faster car at that point of the race, he could get ahead cleanly either at the same point as the incident or a couple of corners later, he would very likely have won the race even with a clean and safe overtake.

I would understand Max move if he battled a car that had even pace as him but now, no, so pointless being so aggressive with a pace advantage

Max given 5sec penalty. What a shame!
