He had a drive through penalty for wrong positioning on the start. Pretty lame He has also been driving rather badly pace-wise.Dipesh1995 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 21:20Just looked at the results properly and couldn't help but notice that Russell finished ahead of Magnussen. Was that down to legitimate pace or did the Haas have a problem?
Exactly why straight operators like Patrick Head, Frank Dernie, Adrian Newey and so on who know the full spectrum of F1 engineering from race engineering to car design to aerodynamics are so valuable. Otherwise the modern day specialists, who only know one department, can get lost and not see the wood for the trees.Unc1eM0nty wrote: ↑26 Jun 2019, 13:50F1 has moved way on from the type of orgnasation he was sucessfull in
Good points. Robert has been asked about the lines and why doesn't take same lines as George by one of Polish journalists (unfortunately it has been some time ago and I can't remember where I read it ) and he answered, that he tries to do so every now and then, but just can't keep same lines with his car. Sometimes he can push harder, but his tires die in few laps after that.skwdenyer wrote: ↑01 Jul 2019, 10:04I’ve done a lot of analysis of RK vs GR. it is easy to see where RK is losing time - he’s taking different lines that limit is apex and exit speeds, which screw him for subsequent straights.
Is that due to the car? I’ve compared them with RK’s earlier F1 career and find his lines essentially the same then as now, whereas GR is driving it seems to the car he has.
Now that may be because there’s something about GR’s car that’s different. Or it may be because RK is unable or unwilling to adapt. Recently in an interview RK was asked if he watched GR’s onboards to find where time was being lost and dismissed it with a “I know what I’m doing” comment...
As to why Williams might hobble RK? How long is GR’s contract? If GR looks like the second coming, might he be valuable to trade for cash / engines / etc?
Any reason behind this? because from the outside it looks that Robert is simply slow now, which sadly could put him out of the team in 2020.netoperek wrote: ↑03 Jul 2019, 11:38a bit more on a subject of why Robert can't do George's lines and pace. He's already on the limit of his car.

Read my post. I see the difference I have just asked the reason behind this behaviour.netoperek wrote: ↑03 Jul 2019, 12:05You don't notice any difference in the behaviour of these cars? I don't know... stability? required steering input, sometimes even on a freakin straight? I'm not an expert in driving an F1 car obviously, so I might be wrong, but if it is similar to a car or a kart it looks like he's not far from loosing the car and You can't really go much further than that. If You have to counter that many times on turn in and on the corner to keep more less smooth line (for instance like in around 3 minutes mark), then this car drives like --- in my book.
Sorry, I misunderstood Your post. Well Williams says the cars are the same... George suggested that maybe Robert can't understand the engineers (lol)Vasconia wrote: ↑03 Jul 2019, 13:02Read my post. Is that serious or sarcastic?
