Then why this sentence from you: “And they don't want, sorry Helmut, Christian, Mattia and especially you Günther, you're gonna have to do it with downforce”?
what do you mean 'why'? i explained it at the time. Obviously Pirelli don't want to change all the tyres part way through a season, and they could only be forced to for a safety issue so Christian & co were always wasting their time however the vote went

Thanks for the pic. Any word from pirelli about then changing the construction? Sorry, I don't trust a word out of Horner's mouth.
Pirelli did say something about it but if you want to debate that it's your turn to come up with some evidence, doncha think?

Shockingly my prediction of how the vote would go was spot on.

https://www.pitpass.com/65034/Teams-rej ... spec-tyres
Understandably, Mercedes was against the move, as was McLaren, which has also made a better job of working with the 2019 tyres. Mercedes customers, Racing Point and Williams, both sided with the German team as did Renault, meaning the vote went 5-5.
This is also an interesting bit of information.
Despite the result of the vote the mood was understood to be positive, as the teams called for a less narrow operating window and less degradation, whilst also arguing that those teams with less downforce should not be further handicapped by the failure to get their tyres working.

It's understood that even if the vote had gone in favour of the switch, the 2018-spec tyres wouldn't have appeared until Mexico.

While i agree that blistering isn't a safety issue, it's a performance issue, this suggestion to change the tires mid season is horse manure.

I predicted the same.

I don't see how less rubber would make the tire stiffer?
More rubber might but mostly stiffer would have to come from the cord and internal construction. Less rubber seems to me like it would be less stiff so it would nave to come from something else.
Perhaps less of a stiffer rubber? :?

Less rubber would not make the tyre stiffer, but if you can imagine that the rubber compound has a given stiffness then it is able to move a certain amount before going into a non-linear range - in flow terms this would be called compliance. If you double the layer thickness for the same stiffness you will have double the compliance before it goes non-linear.

He's just sore they lost the win, and no way could Max have pushed like he did on 2018 rubber

I thought the thicker tyre is supposed to less stiff, therefore easier to heat up due to more movement?

That would have to do with the carcass IMO

The thicker the tread rubber, the more the surface will move relative to the carcass for a given latetal load. That is, it will move laterally more than a thinner rubber will, assuming the rubber is the same compound etc. in both situations.

If there is less movement then it will be heated more slowly.

I think the use of the words "stiff" / "stiffness" is misleading.

What Pirelli could do to help teams better control their tires is stop setting ridiculously high minimum pressures.

No wonder teams have trouble making the tires work when the min pressure is 23.5.

Why is it Pirelli who decide how much the pressures should be? Why can't all teams choose for themselves how they like the pressures to be?

yes i totally agree, and why can Pirelli set maximum camber? If teams burst a tyre they've lost the race! Did it start in 2013 when they idiotically gave permission for their directional tyres to be run backwards?

Hey guys, I have scrolled thru alot of pages to search for some answers for Haas miserable 2019 tyre situration.

Is it down to geometry, downforce related or rake not changing from fuel usage? Any suggestions? And is it only rear tyres?

Car seems very very fast at one lap pace, other teams doesn't look to have same problems.
