With much more experience than Max, Ricciardo was also slower/less good than Max.
Gasly is now driving his second (!) season in F1. Should he be faster / better than Ricciardo, who is a good driver with a lot of experience? That doesn't seem entirely fair to me.
First of all, let's wait and see how things will continue in the coming races, but it is not realistic to expect him to be just as fast and good as Ricciardo and RBR knew that in advance.
Yes it is. But He could be as fast as Ricciardo from first season with Redbull like Verstappen. Then we can keep that idea that he has wdc ability.
Now, yes he can be better than this at next season but if he can up his game he is just a second driver and if he can't up his game then " formula E"

Pretty sure FP1 was an engineered confidence boost. As always, we'll see more of the truth in qualifying.

Engineered or not, the fact is that Gasly runs the new aero package which mostly eliminates the unstable rear end which was Gasly biggest problem and fear.

Definitely Quali mode. He went for it on the last lap, gained at least 3 tenths on all sectors compared to his previous run. The track was getting better but his tyres were also getting old. Still at least 3 seconds away from projected quali pole lap.

Gasly to Formula E because he isn't as good as Max? #-o

Why the facepalm? Not at all a crazy suggestion from Etusch. Vandoorne being the prime example of the fate of an underdelivering driver after being destroyed by Alonso - and he had an even more impressive junior resume.

If Gasly is not good enough for F1 and then has to go to the FE, then at least 10 drivers can also leave for the FE.
Gasly had to drive a swabbing RB15 and he was unable to do so.
The RB15 runs very stable with the new updates.
I hope that Gasly in his 2nd year, with little experience, can show that he is quite a good driver.
Whether he is good enough for a top team remains to be seen, but otherwise he is good enough for a middle team
and he really does not need to go to the FE.

And by the way .... My opinion is that Stoffel is a very good driver and certainly belongs in F1.

The #-o was perhaps a bit exaggerated. Sorry for that @Etusch.

just had a read, it seems the new upgrade rear wing was only present on gasly car giving him more downforce than max. no wonder max pace was slower than gaslys

Who said that? Horner? Why did Max not have that rearwing? Thanks in advance.
