Lando Norris finished sixth ahead of Verstappen and over four tenths of a second from team-mate Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard was eighth, had in contrast to the Englishman but not the changed underbody and the differently modulated bargeboards on the car. McLaren wants to deliver a second set to the track on Saturday. The track of Silverstone fits the MCL34, which likes very fast corners. In slow corners, McLaren still needs improvement.

The update on Norris car has some benefit it seems, and Sainz was running the old bargeboards but with the 4 fins on the floor.

I heard Eddie Jordan is at it again. Read on the autosport forum he claims to have some interesting news about McLaren, which he’ll save till Sunday. He says they’ll hate him for sharing, but he’ll do it anyway.

He hates McLaren so much, he'll take any chance he gets to hit us. I can't blame him, as it must have been a hell for Eddie to see McLaren doing so well these last few races.

Well, according to the post, he used the word “gem”, which makes it sound positive? But you never know with Jordan. He’s revealed some major scoops and also some big nothing burgers, so there’s no guarantee whatever he says will be accurate.

Wonder what it could be? Potential new highly regarded engineer? New sponsor?

Has to be a new title sponsor or engine switch. I hope both, but will be happy with either one. McLaren and Mercedes are a far better fit in my opinion, also commercially. Not saying Renault is doing a bad job, but it’s still Renault.
