norris' q1 laptime would take him ahead of ric in Q3.

A strikingly small advantage of Mercedes. Charles really had a chance at PP. Honda does a great job. On the track where the power of only 0.2s is so important.

Negative on Ferrari being on pole. I reckon they will be more than half a second behind in qualifying. If it is closer than that I will be impressed. They just don't generate as much downforce as the Merc and that is VERy important at Silverstone. I thought everybody knew this by now? Anyways, they are going to get killed, barring some trouble with Merc. I think the Redbull might be in front of them here too, well Max only that is.
You must be shocked now, I guess! :)

Probably had a good tow, strangely most teams struggled to improve their times. Typically track evolves rapidly from Q1 to Q3. When there were few cars lapping, track temps dropped and cars didnt improve but cars lapping after few cars seem to have benefitted from cars in feont rubbering the track.

My theory is that their tyre preparation was not ideal for the 2nd runs. I totally disagree with Martin Brundle that Hamilton overheated his tyres in the first run because Hamilton was actually quicker than Bottas in the 3rd sector in that 1st run. I think that the Mercedes is softer on the tyres than the Ferraris which means they need to push harder on the preparation as they did in the 1st runs but their preparation for the 2nd runs was compromised with traffic.

Hey, what happened to the super duper, mighty, perfect Mercedes car ? Almost lost pole to Ferrari and RB and I even heard that turbo lag cost Verstappen the pole.

Now, imagine if the tyres were suited to Ferrari/RB instead of suited to Merc...... The hyped Brackley team would get trashed everywhere, from now on.

Verstappen will outpace the Mercedeses again, tomorrow :)

So now that Gasly is using Verstappen’s setups he’s doing better all of a sudden. Seems like he’s a good performer but needed help in learning how to setup the car.

Surprising at the small gap Mercedes had with the rest of the cars. Good news. Others are catching up in 1 lap speed. Tires will probably be a different matter though. I am expecting Hamilton still to win tomorrow.

Giovinazi seems to be quite fast based on his recent qualifying performances. He just needs to improve his race pace.
He's not as useless as originally thought.
For Sure!!

Gasly is still 3 tenths off, but yes this was a better showing.

It's the complete opposite.
