Seriously? He was on the inside because he was defending the inside, period. Make up whatever fantasty you need to keep Vettel up on that pedastal you've placed him, the guy is finished and well past his best.

I'm not defending Vettel, jesus... Max went around Vet for the overtake and as a result went wide on the exit of the corner where the overtake happened AND went off the track as a consequence, that is all I'm saying

and when he rejoined the track he was on the inside line for next corner, Vettel expected him to go to outside probably which would open up the inside for him, but that didn't happen

that is all I'm saying, not fan of Vettel btw, just pointing out another "cheat" by Max in this race, and "cheat" in quotes, because I don't think he should be penalized for going off, just pointing out how he is always dancing on the knives edge, just few laps earlier, after pitstops, the scrap with Leclerc, Lec was on inside with half the car on the curb, and Max still managed to turn into him and make contact, just dirty driving...

No. The top six were within 19s and all going at a similar pace. The best he could have done would have been maybe fourth.

Yup, handed to him when he punched in the fast laps afer the SC to pull out a 2s gap on Bottas. They handed it to him when they signed Bottas as his team mate.

EDIT: AND, fastest lap on slower tyres. Checkmate.

Merc's pace is ridiculous. They are just playing with everyone else. Taking 2 seconds out of nowhere.

Vettel stopped way too late and Verstappen changed his trajectory while braking (his signature move, Seb should have known this), deserved penalty. Anyways I would love to see Gasly on the podium. His drive has been fantastic so far.

Still, Max did the overtakes on the Ferraris out of track, especially that one versus Charles.

Vettel's current form is reminiscent of Schumacher or Hakkinen's last year of racing. Maybe this is his last one of racing indeed. I really hope they give Kvyat a shot at a fast car.
