Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

A few more updates spotted:

Image
Image
1) The old version (yellow) was squared off, while the new section (red) is a diagonal piece.
2) The old version (yellow) had a sharp straight cut edge, while the new vane blends diagonally into the main bargeboard section.
3) The old version (yellow) has a tall diagonal section roughly the same height as the short square (sideways rectangle) section above that it connects to, while the new version (red), has a shorter, lower diagonal section and taller square upper section.

1) The old version (yellow) has two vanes, the first being completely vertical and the second being shorter than the first and with an angled top. The new version (red), has a first vane which cants/curves outwards slightly, the second vane is taller than the older version and cants outwards giving the element a 3D like twist.
2) The old version (yellow) is a shorter, single continuous element, whereas the new version (red) is taller and features a partial split, almost dividing the section into 2 elements.
3) The old version (yellow) features a short outer edge, while the new version (red) has a taller outer edge.

The rear vane behind the front three has also been re-profiled.

According to Motorsport.com, there are some additional changes to the front wing:

"This [new front wing] features a shorter overall chord length, shortening the top two elements to bring the trailing edge further forward along the endplate."

Here's a pretty good angle on the inside portion of the end plate:

Can we call this a B-spec officially, seeing how many changes at once are made?

I wouldn't say so. Changes here and there but nothing major making it a new car. It's a Spain size package.

:wtf:
Literally every piece of bodywork has 1 or more (large) visible changes, a new monocoque and new cooling

For me these are all normal developments not changing the concept or philosophy of the car. If these updates were brought to the car one step at a time and not all at once I don't think you would call this a B-spec compared to what it was in Spain for example.

There's no new monocoque as far as we know.

The rumours of new lightweight chassis have been quashed by Mercedes.

Did the front wing always have the proud center section?

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
