From Sky
Session over for Bottas
That's not the start to the weekend he needed.

Mercedes confirm that the power-unit swap we brought you news of earlier means the Finn won't be back out before Practice Two.

The Finn didn't manage to set a timed lap before his original engine developed a misfire.

They informed us before the race in Germany. So they would probably do the same this weekend. No excuse --- last weekend I'm afraid buddy.
Indeed. Hamilton himself mentioned it in the interviews after Qualy for a start.
Yeah- he had a bit of a sore throat, well ‘boohoo’..

To be honest- I have the feeling that he just didn’t want to take part in the whole Netflix thing, last weekend.

We’ll see in January?
It was a cold, but I bet when you have a cold you take tablets or medicine? I bet you he wouldn't have been able to really take anything for it.

As he nearly did his own Netflex series I doubt that. But if you do some research, he has already said he doesn't expect to be in it as they didn't film him because he was ill.

Looking the difference between Ham & Vet in S1... show that 0.45 Sec Bottas earlier in the season that was mentioning, something like: "No matter the track they always have around half a second on the straights on us..."

Dude I just had a cold this week and the first 2 days were agony...no energy, coughing out my lungs full of phlegm. Even if ham had a quarter of what I had, its enough to affect his pace. Remember hes driving a speed machine that requires absolute concentration, especially in wet and changing conditions

No he set that time on 12 lap old soft tyres during the first run, what surprised me is that neither Red Bull or Ferrari could beat that time on their second run on fresh soft tyres later in the session. Mercedes look like the team to beat on raw pace but its still early days.

Kinda agree. We need a rainy weekend to save some intrigue.

I do think Merc is the team to beat. However, people seem to forget that most team are still running their spec 1 on Friday and we start to see these spec 1 breaking down (renault in mclaren car, merc in bottas car). My opinion is that depends on the difference between spec 1 to their race spec at this point, the bigger difference between the spec, the larger improvement we will see between Friday and Saturday.

One has to ask who is the meteorologist on the official f1 website. Their weather forecast from yesterday indicates 0% chance of rain for today, 30% chance for saturday and 52% for sunday. All other weather sites seem to have a completeley opposite opinion.

Is there a way to see everyone's overall pace in the wet?

Excellent point!

Not a guaranteed Mercedes win just yet, hopefully.
