Lewis Hamilton emerged victorious in the 34th Hungarian Grand Prix, winning a thrilling battle with Max Verstappen in a race where strategy decided the final outcome. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel completed the Hungaroring podium.
After 92 entries he finally does it well done Max, surprised Bottas got that close to be honest and Lewis recovered well after a poor first sector, fun session that.
Wut, Gasly almost a second behind that - sure, possibly a great lap for Max Verstappen, but even so, that is quite poor - not looking like he got his mojo from Hockenheim quali with him.
Someone here said that Bottas has a poor race pace or tyre management ... For me, this is the case of switching his race setup more toward the qualy and Lewis has a more mature approach and he works more towards the race, don`t you think?
Particularly on the qualy Q3 lap, it seems that Lewis was always almost 2 tenths slower than both Bottas and Max ... probably some understeer setup in order to have better rear tyre management in the race? Will find the answer tomorrow ...
Red Bull went from 0.5s behind Mercedes in Monaco to beating Mercedes in Hungary. RB is really catching up, and Mercedes is really having a not-so-successful upgrade at Hockenhiem. I'm starting to think that RB might even be able to beat Mercedes at Spa & Monza.
2019 pole 1.7s faster than 2017. That's crazy fast.
