I was not claiming that, I was pointing to the data showing it. Perhaps RB messed up on the friday in Hockenheim, spoilimg the data we had. Still the Merc is better, just that RB have Max Verstappen. He absolutely nails it this year and especially these last weeks he has been on a different planet with still the 2nd best car. Now lets hope he can continue that tomorrow, but the starts of the RB’s have been bad this year and the run to the first corner is long. So fingers crossed.
It didn't cost him the 0.180 he needed for P2 so he got away with it if it was only sector 3. Ill wait for video evidence for sector 1 though but he was only 0.149 off Bottas so...zibby43 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 16:43I’ve seen a few references to this now. Did it stay closed all the way to the line?

They all open it manually. They usually manually close it too, although it auto-closes on brake application.
He had a small correction coming out of 12 as well but we're talking about details. Other than that, to my eyes it was plain perfect.Sieper wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 17:05Verstappen indeed did say he left next to nothing on the table. He also said that that is easy to claim when you have pole, but he is always frank when asked about these things. I only saw a little correction in the final turn, but there your tires are almost done of course.LM10 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 16:23Congratulations to Max for his first pole!
Mercedes was considered clear favorites on this track, also before they introduced their big upgrade package which reportedly worked. Even more amazing that they lost today.
That was a stellar lap from Max. The Red Bull seems to start working more and more, but I’m sure Verstappen’s skills played a big role in addition to that.
he pressed the button too early. Can be easily seen on his onboard. didn't matter though, that short stretch is worth maybe a few hundreths.zibby43 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 17:17https://twitter.com/neterma/status/1157 ... 09504?s=21

So he lost fair and square. Interesting.Juzh wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 18:11he pressed the button too early. Can be easily seen on his onboard. didn't matter though, that short stretch is worth maybe a few hundreths.zibby43 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019, 17:17https://twitter.com/neterma/status/1157 ... 09504?s=21

One pole is not a "new dawn". If he keeps it up over the rest of the season, however...
