Why is so hard to admit Hamilton did a great job? MASTER class from the team and the pilot! Period. We have seen very few of this moments in F1. He closed 6 sec advantage Vest has in 1.5 lap. Then closed a 20sec in 14 laps and passed the leader. No one else even attempted to do 2 stops so it was the slower strat overall. And this was a circuit where passing is very difficult. He lapped his teammate albeit as you said he was in traffic which still does not change Bottas was under-performing. Ves did a great job yesterday but today he couldn't resist Ham/Merc combo. You cannot dismiss Ham and glorify Merc.Pyrone89 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:12Bottas was stuck in traffic.foxmulder_ms wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:08bottas has the same strat mate. Agreed, that is what I am saying. But some people here are acting like VER was ‘beaten’ by HAM in driving skill which was obviously not the case. It is quite hypocritical when we make fun of the strategy guys when they mess up but not give credit when they get the win. HAM and Merc acknowledged it was the strategy guys today with their post race comments and Vowles on the podium.
In the Ziggo interview Hamilton admitted they had a slightly quicker car than RB this weekend. Couple that with a great strategy call and you win.

Just enjoy great racing by two great drivers with one of the two now finally getting a car that is coming into the range to actually compete. Lewis is an all time great on top of his game, you cannot match that with one hand behind the back.siskue2005 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:22i didnt know that Mercedes car had tesla's autopilot in it!Pyrone89 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:12Bottas was stuck in traffic.foxmulder_ms wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:08

it seems all u need to do in the mercedes is to switch it on and the stragergy team to do the work, and voila it is a race winner
where as other dirvers are gods who can bend the rules of physics
Last week Max pulled a gap 3 times, just acknowledge he is doing something OK.ringo wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:27haha last week in germany was the perfect example of team strategy winning a race. Redbull pretty much won on strategy and not great driving. But you wont hear the max fans admitting to it.
Anyhow can there be a mid season thread to discuss projections of the last set of races?
Can Hamilton win another 6 or so races? He is now 10 shy of Shumacher's record. I believe before the middle of 2020 he will break that 91 win record.

All this desperation talk is not nice to read. Just be Fair to both (and all others).
He was 15 secs behind with 14 laps to go - Merc took a risky strategy and it worked. Nothing max could do as was seen when ham overtook him, the tires fell apart by that point (braking 10-15m earlier, poor cornering speeds and getting very late on the throttle)foxmulder_ms wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 18:20Why is so hard to admit Hamilton did a great job?
