It was actually the one lap that Max got a little bit held up by Ricciardo at the chicane that Hamilton was that close that he could make his attempt, which was a very nice battle with much respect between both. I thought Hamilton had already gotten Verstappen there (were it not for the marbles he would have).
The part where Ricciardo was in front of them was just at the point where Max made a mistake under pressure. He lost at least half a second in turn 12 alone. He wasnt stuck behind Ricciardo when he did, he was approaching Ricciardo, then lost half a second that let Lewis get right on Max's rear and when they got to the run down the straight, Max having DRS from Ricciardo saved Max's ass at that moment.
Got video of that? I cant remember him making a real mistake there. In hindsight it ironically have been better if it would have resulted in pass at that time, at least then RB would be the one with the strategy options.

We did see RIC apologize to Max post race, so RIC himself felt he held up Max?

Ricciardo did step up to Max after the race (quite a nice thing to do) to apologize to him (which Max accepted, even making a gesture like all good). If he played no role in the one real attempt why would he do so.

Are you saying that? Purely a mistake by Max (under the pressure) and actually lucky to have Daniel there the sole thing that saved Max?

edit - I am not baiting you, just asking. This weekend I have read a lot of posts that were going against my every grain in how I lived through these moments of the race, but I will now just ask to clarify instead of letting know my viewpoint, a change in approach that I hope to continue.

Have you seen the 2004 season...
The '16 W07 won 19 of 21 races. It won 11 of the first 12. The only 2 races the W07 didn't win: Spain (Rosberg and Hamilton took each other out on the first lap) and Malaysia (Hamilton retired from the lead).

That was only 3 years ago. That car was dominant.
At least there was a championship battle. I vaguely recall being bored out of my mind during the 2002 and 2004 seasons.
Haha indeed. A great championship battle that year. I think that's why some of the other folks forgot to mention the W07 as a dominant car. When there's a great title battle, irrespective of whether it is inter or intra-team, people aren't as focused on the car's performance.

People normally only focus on they're fav-driver, not on the general picture of F1.

one of the reasons why ppl always feeling attacked if you say something against they're fav-driver although you mean it in a complet perspective ..... and then the D*ckmeasuring beginns again "my driver is better because", " no mine is ...." etc.

Hamilton He would be a good teammate for you, Hamilton told Verstappen.

Verstappen then said, “Fernando? You have experience with him, I don't know. Maybe he can talk to Toto. ”

Hamilton says, “Valtteri is great. He can win races. There's an extra seat next to you..
****
When asked about the possibility of Alonso's return, Vettel said, It doesn't matter to me. I don't know why, but I think he does not like me at all. It doesn't matter if he comes back. ”
It looks like paddock thinks other Redbull seat is awailable

Hey, they have four weeks to fill. It's either Gasly's seat or if Ferrari's management will survive the summer reces.

as for Alonso, all doors are firmly closed.

If you followed the live timing during the race, you would have seen it happen there. Half a second in 1 corner is a mistake.

Lost time you mean?

I and the other guy were not questioning if there was a time loss, but what was the cause of it (based on RIC post race reaction he himself felt he created trouble for Max.

Backmarkers dont have to jump oit the way, they get 3 blue flags. Ric obviously didnt pass more otherwise he would have had penalty. Lewis was just under a second behind Max for a lot of the lap and didnt put a foot wrong, Max did, and the DRS saved him was all I was saying

Yet again, why do you keep insisting Max made a mistake? I have yet to see prove he made a mistake and will take RIC feeling the need to apologize over your opinion anyday. Your ehole post just screams ‘Max bash’

Max also lost time to Ricciardo, so its not just Ricciardo holding him up, Max made a genuine mistake.

Not necessarily. In F1 you have to back of in corners if you dont want to spin due to dirty air. If RIC didnt go out of the way when expected to do so the following driver had to take action such as braking earlier, take a wider apex etc to make sure it does not end in tears.

Going off line by itself is dangerous as Hamilton showed by making a mistake in turn 4
