Is the rule 5.1.2 deactive for the time being?
5.1.2 The planar shapes may be rotated around the Y-axis only. [deleted]
There is some wording behind the sentence missing. You can rotate the radiators as much as you want around the Y-axis.

I have updated the files and MFlow on the Challenge page. The guide parts have been updated around the engine cover volume, so that part is new and gives you more freedom. MFlow has seen some upgrades as well. I did some tuning on the CFD settings so they will affect your results and I recommend to use this new version which will also be the version used for the first race.

I hope today there will be a new version of the rules clarifying some of the questions you guys had and some things Richard and I spotted.

Also Richard is aiming to get the new version the the Virtual Stop Watch done soon.

Last Sunday you should have all received an email about the next race. If you did not, this means you are for some reason not in the list. It is your responsibility to submit a car before the deadline. Without the email, you will probably be missing the necessary info for this. If you feel like you should be on the list but did not receive anything, the easiest solution is to just register once more on the Challenge page.

It looks like it is not possible to design any cover/bodywork behind the rear wheels axle, except for the diffuser and rear wing pilons: only the gearbox template can be there. Is that right?

Yes, pretty much.... You can have a rear wing too... :D

I've updated Virtual Stopwatch for the first race:-

Virtual Stopwatch MVRC 2019

(I know; that's an old f1 car image on the app... I need to update that!)

I expect that for this first race everyone will just need to get as much downforce as possible since the cars will be quite unrefined at this point....

How is everyone progressing with designs?

Three questions about MFlow:

1) The parameter that with have to modify in order to set the rake, is called "pitch" (values in the range -1.0/0.0 degrees)?

2) The "exhausts" monitoring surface should be still excluded? I noticed that it is not required ("deleted rule") but the table at the end still includes the flow value.

3) Command line instructions are still available? I used to manage the software with .bat files

You almost had me there. Please have a look at rule 4.1.

Yes, the command goes something like this:

Code: Select all

MFlow.exe <case folder path> MVRC

Thanks. I still have doubts about rule 4.1: the exhausts template is required, but the monitoring / special bc surface?

Is there a command for the post processing?

Because the exhaust is a mandated part in both design and position I guess Andre doesn’t need you to supply the monitoring surface; he can just use the standard one....?

OK! I got it, thanks

BTW: is there any data about the results of the test car? It would be useful to compare our first numbers

Exactly, monitoring surfaces are to specifically specify an area you want to have monitored, while some types of special_bc automatically get monitored.

Not yet, I am working on it.

Yes:

Code: Select all

MFlow.exe <case folder path> -pp
In addition to the -pp you can add either -plots, -images or -report.

In Linux the commands are the same, just without the .exe.
