They seem to be struggling most on sector 1. Even Albon with the new PU, hope they sought that out, else they will be sitting ducks on the straight. Although Albon has more wing and Vestappen may still be using Spec2

If they are using an old engine specification, everything would make more sense. But we have no way to prove that.
Victory is far, but we must close the gap

Apparently Max was going very quick.
Yes, but for a very few[3] laps. Both Mercs' pace has exceeded the field.

Max is using an old Spec 2 for sure. Albon needs to adapt the car, and I guess Honda is testing everything before going to more agressive maps. I'm not worried, tomorrow we will see the true pace

I was just reporting what I heared the tv presentator say. Question was being asked If anybody heared anything yet. Remember this is the RBR racing topic. I haven’t seen Any data yet. Annoying that when simply answering a question on If Any first insight was available (i would guess on the RBR team, being this is that topic) you always have to make the caveat “Yes Lewis was quick”. Guys, Yes, Lewis is quick! Did I say yet? Surprisingly he was. Just kidding, unsurprisingly. Lewis was fast.

Yeah, Max just said on Sky he could not use full power like they normally do on Fridays but should be better tomorrow when they put the other PU in. Still though definitely behind Ferrari

The qualy likely seems for Ferrari, race pace wise it seems silver and blue might be able to do something. But I still haven’t seen Any hard long run data.

Race pace is very close between the top 3. Verstappen's lap times are very competitive. Albon is behind, as bad as Gasly was. Ferrari is a little bit behind in race pace. They suffer massive degradation, Mercedes has excellent tire management, Bottas is extremely consistent. Verstappen can pump out laps to challenge, but I don't know if their tire wear is worse.

Don't expect too much from Albon tomorrow. He will be feeling his way around the car and working with his engineers and probably having a main aim of getting to the finish.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Don't judge him too early. His adaptation to the STR was pretty impressive. I bet on a top 6-7 finish for him

Well, we'll have to talk about it on Sunday. But I've a better feeling from Albon than Gasly

Alex Albon says a very different driving style required for the Red Bull has forced him to "rewire his brain" to get the most out of his new car.

The Thai driver, who has been promoted to the Red Bull team in place of Pierre Gasly, nearly matched teammate Max Verstappen in first practice for the Belgian GP but was three tenths adrift in the second session.

But as he got to grips with the RB15 for the first time, Albon said that it felt like he was starting over again in learning about F1 cars because it required a totally different approach compared to the Toro Rosso he raced in the first half of the year.

"It's a different driving style that you have in Toro Rosso," said Albon. "You spend six months driving that way and you come to the Red Bull car and it is kind of remembering what other cars are like.

"You have to rewire your brain, start from the beginning and go again. It is not one thing in particular."

He added: "I felt a bit more comfortable in FP1 than FP2, and I am still trying to understand the car. It is very different to the Toro Rosso so it is quite difficult in some respects and better in other respects."

Albon was clear, however, that he had hit the ground running in terms of working with the team and feeling settled in.

"I feel at home with the guys, they've been nice to me," he said. "It is very different. I've felt that already.

"We did a bit of sim [work] on Wednesday and could tell it's going to take some time to get used to it. Once you're on track with the helmet you have a bit more G forces and feel the car a bit better. It's just baby steps really."

Albon is heading into the Belgium weekend knowing that he will start from the back of the grid thanks to an engine change penalty.

While that takes some pressure off in terms of him needing to deliver in qualifying, he says he also would have liked the opportunity to know just how quick he could go.

"I would still have liked to have qualified properly and see where I'd have gone," he said.

"The focus isn't on short-run pace, it's trying to set up the car for Sunday. So there is a more chilled out atmosphere, but I still want to do a good job on Sunday."
