Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

They may get a phone call during qualifying or even during he race saying "we know what the problem is, turn up the engines". That would be fun - lap 15 and suddenly the Mercs find 0.5 second a lap extra pace to chase whomever is in front. 8)
As far as we're aware this only affects qualifying, not the race (or at best has a negligible impact in the race).

I imagine they will have an answer before qualifying. But really the race is where they will need to be sure about it.

Do we know what modes Lewis was using? I think they'd have broadcast it if he'd been given Strat 2, which normally he would've been at the end so close to the win.

That's a medium-downforce wing on the Merc right now. They won't be racing that this weekend. It's acting as a placeholder until the ultra low-downforce RW arrives.

Mercedes has specifically chosen a very steep rear wing.

It's acting as a placeholder right now. Merc's low-downforce wing arrives on Friday, as indicated above.

Is that an update I see, to the top, rear leg of the front A-arm?

Interesting, Merc is hiding their low down force rear wing. I am dying to see how thin it is.

Either that, or they're pushing it late to have a Monza-spec ready.

Same goes for the FW; we're going to see different profile/chord length on the uppermost flaps, which were completely left off the car today.

So can someone explain to me how if a car is very draggy a la Mercedes and is producing a ton of downforce can't be tweaked to produce a very slippery car with less downforce? Almost seems like Mercedes doesn't know how to make slippery cars because they've spent so much time making a draggy downforcey car.
Not necessarily true. They admittedly made slippy cars in the first few years of the V6 hybrid era, then decided to change philosophy in 2018 to more downforce-y sort of compromise to preserve tyre-life and be faster over the race on the majority of tracks even their weak ones. Remember how their "superpowers" used to disappear at certain tracks?

Advances in that regard are going to be few and far between. These are already the most thermally efficient internal combustion engines in the world. And the most efficient engine in the world is a combined cycle power plant, which reaches around 60%. So unless they want to have two engines in the back, I doubt it's going to get much higher.
Just a minor note, and don't take this negatively, but a gas turbine is still an ICE. So the most thermally efficient ICE is a gas turbine (in combined cycle mode as you mentioned). The distinction I think you were going for is reciprocating vs rotary internal combustion engines.
Gas turbines are not as efficient as piston engines the last time i checked! correct me if i am wrong though.

Mitsubishi has a gas turbine that is >60% thermal efficiency, but most are similar to reciprocating piston engines
