You only need to be fast enough.Unc1eM0nty wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 21:11It wasn't a mistake as such, they had to avoid the undercut so pitted early themselves, if they hadn't Lewis would have, Mercedes were faster simple as, they could have made either senario work
If the lead car does't pull away then they're not the fastest
And on that day Max wasn't!godlameroso wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 02:07You only need to be fast enough.Unc1eM0nty wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 21:11It wasn't a mistake as such, they had to avoid the undercut so pitted early themselves, if they hadn't Lewis would have, Mercedes were faster simple as, they could have made either senario work

I wouldn't just count everybody else out just yet. Ferrari with that Qualy Rocket Mode can cause some concern, remember when Bottas was saying they were losing 4 tenths to Ferrari in Monaco on the straights. If they can get in front good luck overtaking them.
He was very fast for a one stopper (too fast actually as his tyres fell off the cliff a lap or 4/5 from the end). Lewis had more pace but he was (going to be) on a 2 stopper. It is hard to say who had more pace would they have been on the same strategy, in the end they weren't (going to be) on the same pitstop strategy. Yes in the very end it went to a 2 stopper for Max as well (but they fully intended on a 1 stopper).dans79 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 03:45And on that day Max wasn't!godlameroso wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 02:07You only need to be fast enough.Unc1eM0nty wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 21:11

Quicker than Mercedes in qualifying? I guess I have been watching a different season altogether 0.oF1Krof wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 12:25I wouldn't just count everybody else out just yet. Also, RBR they're very quick in qualy, maybe quicker then Mercs.
Plus, we will for sure have Safety Cars deployed which will stir the race.
This is inaccurate. HAM could have made it on a 1-stop based on the tyre gap (7 laps!) he built over VER. He would have only had to complete 40-odd laps on the hard tyres which would have been easily doable considering that Mercedes seemed to handle the tyres better than the RB that weekend and that VER's tyres fell off the cliff c. 5-6 laps from the end.Sieper wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 13:02He was very fast for a one stopper (too fast actually as his tyres fell off the cliff a lap or 4/5 from the end). Nope. In Monaco Mercedes was faster... everywhere.godlameroso wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 17:06Monaco has more mid speed corners. IIRC Mercedes was fastest in sector 1. Red Bull seems to be better at hairpins and very slow corners. While Mercedes is better at slightly faster more twisty bits.
I think Mercedes advantage will be in the final sector. Whereas Red Bull will be faster in sector 1, sector 2 is the ballsy sector so it's a toss up, and the driver makes the difference.
