Felipe Massa has dominantly claimed the Brazilian GP, but it proved not enough for the championship. In fact, Lewis Hamilton came in 5th and was extremely lucky to still pass Glock in the final corner. Timo was struggling on dry spec tires. Alonso came in second, Raikkonen third.

The FOZ wrote:Whether it was intentional by Glock, whether he messed up, or whether it was simply track conditions and unavoidable, the long and the short of it is, the championship was decided less on the talent of Hamilton (he WAS passed by Vettel moments earlier, after all) and was decided more by a third party in Timo Glock, either through poor conditions, ineptitude, or conspiracy. That is what fans will dislike about how the WDC was decided.
OUCH! Was it much a "third party" decision than the FIA robbing points from Hamilton in Belgium, from Bourdais in Japan and giving them to Ferrari?! More than the FIA "forgetting" to punish Massa for his pit release in Valancia while the exact same move was punishable when it was making no difference in points in singapore?! Come on fanboy, I have just read you're watching F1 for just one year, watch it another few years and you will learn more about your favorite team, and the way they earn the points which makes them titles contenders in the last race every season...
Settle down, Beavis.
I've been watching every race this season, several last season near the end, but I've been a fan since...put it this way, I've had a poster of Schumacher on my wall for the past 5 years now.
No other team has been so consistently near the top as Ferrari, period. It only follows that they'd be involved in more dramatic crap. Funny how that is when you're near the top of the heap every time...

I was in no doubt about this. Thanks for the confirmation

My point exactly. The "crap" consisting precisely in giving to Ferrari points they didn't earn, they simply wouldn't be "near the top of the heap every time" without it. Stop crying now, they have a WCC to defend, the WDC fight was lost way before Brazil, FIA's actons just gave you a cruel illusion, that's all.
ISLAMATRON wrote:KIMI gifting MAssa a position was great to watch? I dont understand that in the least. The medal system could quite possibly get rid of most of this team orders BS. MAssa gifting KIMI the win in Brazil last year was equally as disgusting.
In what way? Look at last year, Massa would still need to give position to Kimi. Likewise if in China Kimi and Massa were 1st and 2nd, don't you think Kimi would give up his position? The only ultinate way to have no team play is to have a single driver per team, plain and simple.
If a medal system was in place nobody would give up a win. To many what ifs to play what ifs but people would not so easily be giving up positions, most especially wins.
ISLAMATRON wrote:I love the irony of Massa &Ferrari thinking they won it all in Brazil only to have it snatched away in heartbreaking fashion... makes up for the SPA FIAsco a little.
I see cruelty runs in your veins. Massa wasn't at fault for the decisions of the FIA. Yes it was low for the FIA to do such a thing, but to love seeing someone heartbroken after busting their ass to achieve their dreams is pretty --- up on your part. He drove his heart out, didn't make a single mistake and came up short. Then had the decency to take it on the chin. And yes I'm being hypocritical before you say anything, but to revel in others misery is the mark of a person that deserves it.
ISLAMATRON wrote:MAssa gifting KIMI the win in Brazil last year was equally as disgusting.
I see nothing wrong with that. He was told to by the team that employs him. And if my teammate was able to win a championship while I was not, I'd help out any way I could. It's called sacrifice. Friends help out friends, you scratch my back I'll scratch yours. That kind of thing. It applies in racing just as it does in life, you help those that can achieve what you cannot.
Lewis was extremely lucky Glock lost it right at the end. He had nothing for Vettel in the last few laps, and I was actually cheering and urging Lewis to take the fight to Vettel even though I want Massa to win in front of his home crowd. Not because I dislike Lewis, or that I like Massa, I just wanted to see him win it all in front of his countrymen. Great race all around, I was literally on the edge of my seat for the last ten laps, and when Vettel passed Lewis I was hands on head screaming at Lewis to hit the skinny pedal and get after him! Man, can you believe the last corner of the last lap of the last race is what the WDC came down to?! Amazing stuff! =D>
Congrats Lewis on your first WDC!! =D> =D>

NOTE by admins: after editing the dirty words, there was nothing left of this post.
NOTE by ME: That is not true, yes I used some bad words, but there was plenty said in the post other than that. And please notice how the admins allow the insults towards me to remain regardless of what size the font is. Pure Bias, because he clearly cursed in his post before I responded but it still remians posted. And I will post it in normal font since he was to cowardly to do so and you are too blinded by bias to have seen it.

ben_watkins> Thanks for that post. This to me illustrates that glock was not pulling off as he lapped a comparative time to trulli, who also was on dry tires for the final lap.
I watched the race on TV in dubai (and I don't understand arabic commentary so I couldn't make much sence of what who was thinking what so please correct me if I'm wrong)
Did Massa think he won the title? Or did he know that Lewis got 5th initially, because I saw Massa's family celebrating and god you have to feel sorry for them.
I feel sorry for Massa himself too, poor guy was crying on the radio, but by god has he improved since his maiden season?! He did everything right this season and put in a performace that his fans should be proud of...as far as I'm concerned he's my driver of the day.
But what great stuff for Lewis, I don't think that you can say Lewis was lucky to win it, he did everything he needed to and didn't take the risked he didn't, the Ferrari was the faster car today and Lewis did was was required and no more, exactly what people have been saying he doesn't do enough of (lets see if he remembers that lesson for next season eh?!) YES Glock's lack of pace gave Hamilton the place back but only because Glock took a Gamble on staying with Dry tyres, it didn't work. Finally Lewis would not have been in that position had both he and Vettel not been wrong footed by Kubica curiously wanting to un-lap himself...15years ago the same behaviour get Eddie Irvine a punch on the nose from Ayrton Senna.
End of the day the title came down to the wire, I'm happy with the result and PERSONALLY (I know others may disagree please don't flame me for this) I feel justice has been done for the crazy penalties this year - not just that I feel Hamilton had been harshly treated with regards tgo rule application and Massa not so - but mostly because the title was won on track at this race - not in court or appeal rooms, and not due to mechanical faliure etc etc etc.
PLEASE can we get back to just racing next year?
Final word:
(Not that he'd be reading this lol)
Have been watching your carear now for 6years, I knew you could do it - Well Done Lewis.

I totally agree!
MANY MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO HAMILTON!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
I saw him win in Monaco back in May and after that performance and then the win at Silverstone in the pouring rain, I knew he could do it today. Total heart in mouth however, for the whole race, let alone that last few laps.
The most nail bitting finish to a WDC in my memory. Superb!!

+1.
So we agree on something in the end! Good. Let's hope 2009 will survive ugly looking cars and the FIA stay away of the title battle. Then it could be fun again.
I don't agree with putting what you put in small print Ray, BUT I do agree with nthe content in principle, I was so Happy for Lewis, but this year I have REALLY grown fond of Massa, he seems a pleasent guy, always willing to chat to the media (and via them his fans) when he can, he has a tight nit family, he just seems a really nice guy, AND his driving is now black and white compared with how he used to drive an F1 car. I was one of the first to say Massa would fall back with the banning of TC but stangely it was Kimi who did, and I'll be the first to put my hands up and say "I was wrong" on that one...Massa rose to the challenge.
It wasn't his fault that the FIA gave him some...er...advantageous rulings, but is he really going to say "No, no, no, let Lewis keep his win at Spa" doubtful (if he wants to keep that Ferrari seat!)
I was most impressed with his ability to take it on the chin, and restrain the emotion on the podium and appear like a rock for his beloved fans. A very good driver, a nice guy and now I've learnt, a true gentleman.
Commiserations Felipe.

Don't think I will. I was doing my best to respond to what you said and be respectful on MX Tifosi's request to be civil. Anyone that wants to know what I said can take the effort to see it if they choose, if not they can ignore it.
Man, I'm sure around here I've been perceived as very anti-Lewis, but today was great. To see someone that is a superb driver and an all round great guy win is very satisfying. He fully deserves it. I wish I could shake the guys hand personally and tell him I've enjoyed watching him drive.

My thoughts exactly! It must be very tough on Massa to lose by 1 point, as it was on Hamilton last year, but I absolutely feel that justice has finally been done, Hamilton deserved this championship title after the crazy penalty at Spa. Congratulations Lewis!!!

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Hamilton for stringing together stunning drives such as Albert Park, Silverstone, Hockenheim and China into a world championship. But I can't help but feel bitter. I feel bitter because I didn't want either Massa or Hamilton to win the title. I dislike the extremely talented one and feel the other is not really as good as other past champions, and the mistakes both of them have done through the years really made me question what could have been whether Kubica or Alonso had had a more competitive car.
Now about the race: huge thums up for Massa. Great drive in the second half plus taking it like a true champion. Now he can say he's able to win in changeable conditions. Great drives also by Alonso (he finished 5th, above Heidfeld) and Vettel. Being somewhat of a Who fan, the reference "the kids are alright" is obliged. I've been disappointed by Hamilton's drive. It was way too conservative in the first stages, and he was on the verge of losing his title. I'm also sorry for Coulthard's retirement, not only because it was his last race, but also because he had the coolest cam.
God, do I miss F1? Fortunately, McLaren and Honda (at least) will be testing on the new Portimao circuit soon. I watched the superbike race there and the track looked incredibly tough. Lots of elevation changes, many blind apices and wonderful weather.
To the doubters: I believe that the only guys on slicks were Glock, Trulli (should have been penalised for what he did to Bourdais) and Kubica (should he have started from the grid, maybe Massa would be the champion now). The real issue is that it started pouring down on the last minute, like in Spa.
@ Spencifer: The issue is that the ferrari box were convinced that Massa had won it, and probably told him so. The spanish commentators also thought Massa won, and my father and I only realised that the Toyota Hamilton passed in the last corner wasn't actually a lapped opponent when we saw "Hamilton 5th" onscreen.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.
