McLaren MCL34

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Anyone got any pictures of the car in Singapore? I have seen a picture of almost every car except for McLaren.

Can't really expect anything new there. I was hoping there would be pictures of the full car with the floor and bargeboards and turning vanes on place. Those and possibly the rear wing end-plates are the places where I was expecting some minor changes for this weekend. Seems like there are no pictures of that around right now. Guess we have to wait for tomorrow. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing.

As a fan of the McLaren team I hope they do better than Renault this weekend!

Seidl made a comment that there are changes to the floor that can be spotted “with naked eye” but that the rest of upgrades are hidden.

Seems like there is something in the part where the floor connects with the sidepod wing and the bargeboards. Just saw a video from the team's pit stop practice, but I haven't seen any proper pictures yet.

I thought I saw something strange there when I saw the video but because of the bad lighting I couldn't really confirm it if it was new. It is indeed something new, but we still don't have any detailed close-up shots of it. Anyway, hopefully McLaren can bounce back here in Singapore.

I thought it was travel protection at first, but they’ve kept it on for pitstops so I guess so

This is very interesting indeed. Looking at the middle of the car, they have a very methodical yet basic design. They're obviously not as confident as Mercedes or the other top teams in terms of complexity, however they do have a design direction, and it seems to be working. Seidl really has a made a big impact because I already see the structure he's putting in place.

The Sidepod shape looks different too... Not sure if it's the lighting...

Seems "higher" to me...
