The pit stop only did one thing, and that was allow Vettel to have a faster out lap then Charles had for his in lap.

That's an opportunistic Vettel doing real time math, and taking advantage of a gap in the strategy.

Vettel broke the delta. Charles was driving slowly, and Seb dropped the hammer. Had Seb driven slowly, Charles would have won.
