OMG...

Barack Obama has won the US presidency!!

What a great and significant weekend for the black race, with Lewis Hamilton winning the 2008 Formula One World Championship as well. These two occurences within three days.

I recognize that this is off topic, but it's an interesting addition to what Hamilton accomplished last weekend, IMO.

hmm...on one hand, Hammy wins the F1 WDC, on the other Obama wins US Presidency. Hmm, wonder which event is more important.... :!:

It's Obama winning the Presidency darn it! [-(

What Hammy did was important, say, just as important as the first black pro basketball player, or black pro baseball player here in the US. But what Obama did is way more important that that. You'd think in this day and age it should not matter if Obama is black or white or green or a Simpsons character, but unfortunately it does and that's a shame.

Now, let's get back to some racing talk. When do the test begin this month?

Obama and Hamilton aren't black. I believe they come from one black and one white parent. Tiger Woods has an Asian parent. So this week has been a victory for mixed races. :D

Racism is being called racist for being an Alonso supporter as well as spanish in every other internet site. Racism is being asked how many months I've been following F1 for being spanish. Racism is calling journalistic critique of Hamilton racist and not doing the same for the critics on Alonso. Yes, there is a worse type of racism, but I notice this kind of discrimination.

Oh! And before I forget, most people in Spain is happy because Obama won.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Thats good, I was very happy with the results of the last major elections in spain.

It is sad that you are grouped in with the ignorant fools from your country that have behaved so rudely towards Hamilton and his family in Spain. Those Gorilla suits and that despicable website are huge --- stains on your country and its reputation so I hope you guys can control those idiots.

Surely this political drivel needs to be in the other subjects section and not in a thread about Brazil 2008?

Hows about you start another thread and we can discuss the merits of the white man/black man/other...?

Back on topic..

For all the people who've been moaning about Hamilton winning and that Glock deliberately let LH past on the last lap etc.. Try learning from Mr Felipe Massa.

"I want to meet Hamilton and his father to tell them they deserved the title," Felipe Massa was quoted as saying by 'Gazetta dello Sport'. While also personally dismissing speculation that Timo Glock let Hamilton through, "Glock didn't let himself be overtaken on purpose."

http://www.f1technical.net/news/11024

I think no more need be said on the matter.

Hamilton is the 2008 WDC cause he won more points over the season than anyone else. And what do F1 teams and drivers compete for? Points.

Well done Hamilton, great job. And to Massa, you've taken loosing like a man and earned more respect through your losing the the WDC than you might have earned through winning it. Congratulations to both. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

No, bad idea, this is a technical forum.

To help end racism just do like Obama or Hamilton: dont stop doing what you want because "a detail" like having another skin color :)

The detail we all should look at is the greatness of others peoples heart!

EDIT: Ben, I was going to said just the same :)

Well, you don't know Miguel, I think, because you're being a tad unfair with him. No one can control idiots completely, you can teach them something, at most.

At least, around here, as long as they don't get rude, we don't have any other solution but to allow idiots (me included) to bray. I only edit insults and nothing else. I ask all of you (I beg you) to think twice before putting together in the same basket people of any race or nationality.

It's ilogical to kill killers (you would have to suicide after that!). Same goes for complaining that "all people from YYYY are racists".

I'm pretty sure that the dislike of some spaniards about Hamilton is not related to what he is, but how he behaved. I don't know if you share that point of view, but surely you can understand why. Just imagine how some fans would feel toward, I don't know, Nakajima, for example, if he went into McLaren and, afterwards, Hamilton, our respected WDC, were expelled from the team after some racing incidents with him and (in my very personal opinion) bravely denouncing his team for lack of sportmaship. BTW, many people thinks that, given Alonso's performance this year, that gesture costed him this year championship. Simple to understand.

Precisely at the Brazilian GP Alonso went to Macca's garage and congratulated Hamilton. He shook Hamilton by the hand and said "well done, well done", while the Briton responded: "Thank you mate" and clasped Alonso on the shoulder.

You're asking for "idiot control": I think that's Alonso's and Hamilton's answer to your fair request. Better than that, I fail to imagine what can be done. If you have any other ideas about what can be done with "imprudent people", please PM me: lately, I'm in need of a few... :D

I didn´t know that. Thats COOL! :)

I am the first who wants drivers to have a desperately will to win, but be gentlemen if they loose. They should all follow Mikes example

No, I do not know Miguel, but I dont understand how I am being unfair, I did not lump him together with the racists, I never said "all people from YYYY are racists", all I did was share my hope that they(the people & the authorities of Spain) could curtail the racists, their GP's may even be at stake if you believe the FIA. This problem is not specific to their treatment of Hamilton, their behavior at soccer matches, even towards their own black players has been well documented. It is obviously a societal problem.

Sure, many spanards can be upset that Alonso didnt have a chance at the WDC this year, but what does that have to do with Gorilla suits & bananas & racial slurs? Please dont make excuses for racists.

Obviously a vast majority of Spanish racing fans dont like Hamilton because of the so called Alonso feud and are not racist, but there is also a very vocal minority that is giving the rest a bad name.
