In the Onboard you cannot hear a lift. Maybe he raised the foot from 100% to 97%, but I cannot hear him lift!
Vettel fully takes the foot off the loud pedal
Agree. This whole ‘super secret data’ thing for rulings is completely ridiculous. Especially when it flies in the face of what we’ve all seen. (numerous times this season)Wynters wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:00Potential punishment aside, how do the stewards get this so wrong? We're constantly reassured that they look at the data and, if the data we see is different, we're told that they look at super, top-secret data that we're not allowed to see but that totally justifies their decisions.
So, how do they react to this incident? "Oh, it's fine Verstappen slowed for it." Verstappen himself denies this and, apparently, that's enough for the Stewards to reopen the enquiry. Don't they already know if he lifted? Didn't they check the telemetry before saying he didn't commit an offence? Someone please present an alternate explanation because this is f-ing ridiculous.
It's not even as if they're summoning him for taking the piss in the press conference. "failure to slow for yellow flags in turn 17 at 14:00"
Also, this clearly sets the precedent that you absolutely should lie when asked about offences. If Verstappen hadn't been honest, he wouldn't be appearing in front of them.
What on earth has happened to Stewarding?
No yellow/red/blue/black flag could have saved Hubert, that just all went down too fast. Dragging that horrific accident into this discussion is adding false sentiments in light of what Verstappen did, in my opinion, and is not right.AMG.Tzan wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 22:22Yeah you know what you're doing for sure...that's why Bianchi and Hubert are dead now...!
What an idiot...this kind of language should get him a DSQ! But since Charlie died F1 is nowhere in terms of understanding what's wrong in some situations like this one today!
As the old saying goes, the fruit never falls far from the tree.
Also anything he gained down the main straight is already gone at turn 3.Juzh wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:10verstappen vs vettel's final lap. As you can see vettel wasn't even close to taking pole position, yellow flag or not. He's ~2 tenths behind at the white line just before the crash.

Had Vettel done his S3 from the first run it would have been a 1:15.066. Faster than his first run but still in third. Verstappen would have gotten pole anyway, trueJuzh wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:10verstappen vs vettel's final lap. As you can see vettel wasn't even close to taking pole position, yellow flag or not. Yes, no flag could have saved Hubert. But this shows that even though drivers think they know what they are doing, sometimes stuff happens outside their control. What if a tire let go? What if the suspension let go? If a car is that close to the track you ease off. Period!BosF1 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:06No yellow/red/blue/black flag could have saved Hubert, that just all went down too fast. The death of Bianchi is a whole other matter and because of what happened there, Verstappen should indeed be penalised.
True, but Verstappen would not have known that.LM10 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:23Which makes it even dumber not to lift.Mandrake wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:20Had Vettel done his S3 from the first run it would have been a 1:15.066. Vettel had a pretty big error in final turn on his first lap. He would improve on his S3 time by a lot on his second run, putting him in 2nd.Mandrake wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 23:20Had Vettel done his S3 from the first run it would have been a 1:15.066.
