but seriously, i've seen a few journos saying Honda are level with Mercedes now, so let's see up the hill. if Ferrari have had to notch it back a bit they all could be pretty level on power

The nature of the track could suit RBR very well. The majority of the lap time comes from sector 2, which is ~6 corners. The most critical being very low speed corners, and trail braking. The RB15 seems to be the best car in the lowest speed corners, but not as good as Mercedes when it comes to long or high speed corners. The race will come down again to tire wear, who can preserve the tires the best will win. The pace in the dry should be 13's high 12's to start then ending in the 11's high 10's.

The RB15 in anyone but Verstappen's hands cannot challenge for a victory let alone a podium. Probably why, they don't fancy their chances, it's ok Verstappen can still beat both Ferrari drivers and next year it's game on for the whole thing.

Wow, some of you guys could get in to an argument if put in a locked room on your own.

Chill out, there's a week to go until the actual race - then you can argue about who pushed whom off and why they should / shouldn't get a penalty, and whether the stewards are blind / fans of other drivers are blind / stupid / incompetent / whatever other insult is flavour of the day.

It's truly remarkable. Usually the thread begins knocking at the doors of hell around qualifying time but we're a week away and we've already landed in hell on the first page .

Shame Ocon isn't driving this year.

I suspect Ferrari will be a bit meh here based on their lack of downforce. The track does have a lot of elevation changes, steep heights mid corner and they also have a longer car.

The wind is going to play a factor, especially interesting that there is a head wind down the main straight, and a tail wind into the back straight.

Friday won't tell us much since the weather will be different than the rest of the weekend, even the wind will be different, as will ambient and track temperatures. I think it'll be better to let the track come to you instead of chasing it.

Depending on whether Ferrari manage to salvage Charles' spec3 engine (or if it was salvageable in the first place) he might take a new one for that race, his 1st engine probably has already been used in most friday practices, his 2nd was already very old in the USA and maybe not worth the risk.

So any predictions with Leclerc in the top4 for quali and on the podium in the race might already be off.
