I can now see why the FIA and Ferrari had a row over the phone.
Worse race pace and not even certain for the top spots anymore!
Based on what I saw in qualifying today, next season doesn't bode well for Bottas.
Because putting the biggest rear wing of all won’t make you fastest out of nothing? At least the difference is not as huge as it’s been in early season. They’ve been absolutely miles behind.siskue2005 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:24So why were they slowest in the sector 2 where downforce matters??
It looks like the removed some drag and downforce to compensate for their loss of striagline speed
the TD has defenitely affected them
After COTA it looked different, let's wait for Abu Dhabi for more evidence.
They have also been absolutely miles in front. Strangely since the TD’s not so much?LM10 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:28Because putting the biggest rear wing of all won’t make you fastest out of nothing? According to Binotto, they tried something different with the set up, it's not because of the TD but of course.siskue2005 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:24So why were they slowest in the sector 2 where downforce matters??

And yet Redbull and Mercedes matched them in all S1 and S2, just fractions slower?Wass85 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:26siskue2005 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:24So why were they slowest in the sector 2 where downforce matters??

And it worked so well in Texas and they replicate it here in Sao Paolo. But beware folks, it's not the TD.
Ferrari high DF equates the others medium to be honest... You can't be miles faster on the straights and lose all that time and more in the corners... It is possible for other teams to be faster you know!

Where as in singapore, a track where redbul and merc should dominate, yet ferrari were 2 tenths faster than anyone else in the sector 1 with a short straight, but they cant go even 1 tenth faster than others in s1 and s3...it all came down to fractions.

As you can see, the tracks like sochi and singapore they have been faster in straights aswell as in the corners!
And YET since the TD they have misteriously shifted to high downforce setups and also slower in corner...and it worked so well in Austin that they are doing it in Brazil too
And YET it is not due to TD, it is only due to altitude, wind direction, earth rotation and also planetary alignment
So are we gonna ignore all the facts i posted above??Wass85 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:47siskue2005 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 21:40And yet Redbull and Mercedes matched them in all S1 and S2, just fractions slower?

The senna esses require downforce, it's not point and and squirt like Singapore.
Anyway forget downforce and such, these tyres are so finicky it could simply be a case of not getting on top of them this weekend.
I also noticed this and would agree recent TDs have hit ferrari's PU performance advantage, significantly even. Previously they would have blitzed those sectors with ease, now it's not happening at all.siskue2005 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 22:13Before the TD

Only fractionally faster in sectors with straights and slower in high downforce sctors

Slower in sector with straights
Just putting it here, it defently seems that they have lost a huge time in sectors with straights after the TD
