Still though it's so much bullshit. Sainz should be on that podium opening champagnes. Today the FIA stole a deserved podium from Mclaren.

Agreed stewards should make decisions before podium celebrations.
Have to say I thought that was a racing incident but I so want Sainz to get that podium. Can I also say that Norris letting Sainz go made his race. Great team effort. Almost to tears for Gasly too. Awesome awesome

The question is who else will be penalised, since aparently there were drivers with opened DRS in yellow zone. In any case, FIA should wait with podium celebration as long as issues would not be resolved, especially involving a driver in the podium position with possibility to drop out of this position due to penalty...

I am seeing the race in the Greek channel. The commentators say that in a similar incident between Raikkonen and Verstappen just because Verstappen passed Raikkonen in the last lap going out of bounds of the race his podium was removed. They claim that the same should happen here and Sainz should have goten the Podium. They claim that the FIA treats teams differently.

“Deserved” isn’t the right word... The team didn’t deserved it necessarily... If they get it, it will be a lot of luck involved with it... Both Ferrari’s, one Mercedes and Hamilton taking Albon out... That’s a lot of external factors that could give them that 3rd position...

Yep, overall if the result sticks, they have 4th in the bag. Great effort by the team and drivers. Proud to be a Mclaren fan.

Sainz was also the only car on a 1-stop. Some 40 or so lap old mediums.

Have in mind that in a similar situation a few races back Sainz wasn't even near the podium when the chance arrived. He remained 5th. This time the car was faster to try and get that chance for a podium. We can't deny the development of the car. Sainz was last and finished 4th with a used Medium against cars with fresher tyres.

In the end it's not our fault they crash into each other. That wasn't luck. That was stupidity of the Ferrari drivers. Not to mention so many mistakes with our strategy.

If we look at the beginning of the race, wasn't it a mistake to start with softs? We were always saying that its better to start 11th with meds than 8th with softs. Was the team so sure that the car could have good pace with hards? I think it was a bad call.

I agree. I couldn’t fathom the call. The only thing I can think of his the high chance of safety cars after the 1st lap

I really wonder. Could Fernando Alonso have done even better?

Doesn't really matter to be honest. Sainz had a mega race.
