Tesla truck, sharp edges and aero

Post

My understanding is that sharp edges are never a good thing for slippery aero. Here I guess they’re dictated by the nature of the type of steel used/production logistics. Does this thing have any hope of a low cd?

A pickup and low cd? Not going to happen. As soon as battery development outperforms even the "German Reichweitenangst" cd will very soon become more and more irrelevant for BEVs.

So they have a sharp edged stainless steel car now, a car with gullwing doors and a model on a Lotus chassis....

It might have a reasonable Cd - Tesla have a very low claimed Cd on the Model S and 3. It's the frontal area that kills you though.

A car without a single curve, only straight lines? Wow, it´s mindblowing nowadays

But I´m also curious about Cd, can that design be good for drag?

The only similarity with those is the Tesla badge. Their truck does have a similarly appropriate front rear proportion and covered bed (they call it a vault). But I’m really curious about all the sharp edges, can’t be good for aero I’d think

Looks like something to avoid the speed radar.

Incidentally I think it is probably a rebodied model Y with a modified floorpan to increase bending strength.

Will this car be allowed in the EU. I would imagine the steel construction and sharp edges would be a disaster if a person got hit by it.

But I like it. It's different to anything on the market.
