McLaren MCL35 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

From what I can see in the first and third picture is that the left inlet is taller, but the right inlet is wider on the airbox. As multiple people have predicted, McLaren is really shrinking things around the Renault PU. I think they're gonna get aggressive with the sidepods.

For some odd reason, Twitter doesn't let me post the second post only.

Ok, wild speculation. We know that Zak pays attention to fans. What if, in all his marketing creativity, thought "why don't we give them a Marlboro McLaren livery?" maybe with papaya instead of red, some splashes of blue for continuity and sponsor alignment... Could that be in line with BAT color schemes?

Especially with BAT on board, I don’t see it happening.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Wouldn't they be opening themselves up to legal challenges from Philip Morris if they implemented an obviously Marlboro-inspired livery?

This is not a 360-degree camera, the camera is larger in size and is located in a rectangular niche. More like some kind of mounting element.

Regarding the white color, perhaps this is camouflage.

Not without them admitting their interests in f1

But I don't think BAT would be too impressed

Agreed, but I really can't think of any other round protrusion on the chassis.

I don't think they'll do a camo livery. That's mostly for teams with established liveries like RedBull & Merc which don't feature many revisions year on year.

Ok sure not a Marlboro resembling livery. More like a lucky strike livery. Like the M 23 one Image

Livery could be very different but probably influenced by Bat the most because of them increasing there support for McLaren, Rexona would already fit in with the blue part of the livery design from last season. it will be interesting to see but there has been white on halo so well have to wait and see for more hints.

Yeah I agree it could be an undercoat, without being someone in the know is white the common colour for primer? Anyway I think livery will be an exciting one, having rexona and bat increasing there infulence should extend the scope for more elaborate colour scheme.

The fact Zak has said livery will be "quite special" and also quotes ""It is a kind of celebration of the history of McLaren and our colour palette" so that covers quite a wide range if your saying McLaren history.
