Williams FW43 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

1000's of parts go through wind tunnel testing every season that never see the light of day. The differences to the FW42 could easily be explained by that. My guess is it's an early development or maybe the launch spec for this years car - the cooling outlet looks a fair bit smaller and the engine cover looks a fair lick more shrink wrapped.

Williams are talking of a “teaser” on its social media pages, so it is probably the 43.

These images are probably of the FW42 wind tunnel model, but the video does give a big hint about the livery. Red, white and black.

This actualy might be FW43. FW42 didnt have a full shark fin from the top, but only a small one for the number and T-wing. It also never had a double T-wing like on the shown model.
Launch spec FW42 perhaps, I'm sure that did?
Yes I definetely think it's the FW43: different sidepod layout, complete sharkfin, never seen t-wing and other small details…
But if it really was the new model, i'd say it's just a small upgrade of last years' car.

They are, but the thing they seem to be most focussed on teasing is the colour scheme

Official line: "Williams confirm 'digital launch' of new car"...

Truth: In other words... it will arrive at testing from a bunch of different suppliers like an airfix kit... again...

Please God- get it together guys..

I wouldn't be so harsh on them (just yet)...I think they have learned their lesson last year and they will deliver FW43 on time! And for the past few years Williams only release digital images of their car and they don't make live presentation...

Please tell me they're not pedalling a 2018 car in this video? although i guess you wouldn't put a current car in the detail...

They've reused some old footage. The guy inspecting the wind tunnel with a torch has been used before. That screen also seems to be from 7-post rig rather than wind tunnel.

If F1 designs were "single-skin" imagine the weight that would be saved. Yes there are drawbacks.. but It would be very interesting if this philosophy is used on car.
